I started to write a couple of things about this post, but in the end, I am at a loss on how to respond. In a round about way though, I guess it summarizes what a thread like this is all about.

Are you saying the kids still have to wrestle to see who is state champion?? I thought thats what this thread was for. This is confusing???

I will start by saying that I am not a computer genius, just short and stocky. Even though many tournament results are not posted, there is a plethora of information that can be harvested from this website if you put a little effort into it. I will say, probably to my fault, that I am a study of this website. When I had downtime overseas, I spent a lot of time researching tournament results including the State qualifying series of tournaments, not only from that year, but many years in the past.

After that year away from the sport, I felt like I knew the quality of wrestlers within ten pounds of my son pretty well. That, in addition to the many tournaments that I have been to and the many matches that I have watched over the years, I have a pretty good idea how good, or not so good, some of these kids are. I continue to study results and look at brackets at tournaments when I see a good wrestler so that I know who they are so I can follow their progress into their high school career (regardless of weight, school, or school classification).

The bottom line, when my son gets ready to step on the mat, I reinforce the fact that he had better wrestle his tail off ("wrestle hard, wrestle smart") if he expects good results. Good results doesn't just mean a win, good results means closing the gap on an opponent who he has not beat, or has not beat in recent years.

Thank you for your wisdom. It's time for bed. I have to get up early and study. I guess I was just looking for a little step in the right direction.

BTW I think that there are great parents on both sides of this discussion.

Chase Voth from Hays will be a factor at 73lbs in D4. And yes, Fisher is a stud!!
In D3, Pywell from Smokey Valley looked good at Ellsworth last week.

Yes, Fisher is a stud. But that is the best thing about having studs, there is always more studs out there. Now who is a stud in D3?
