Talk about emotions -- there was a guy I knew that was wrestling his final year at state, the same as my younger brother. He was a 3-time placer already with a state championship under his belt. He ended up getting pinned in his last HS match ever for 3rd & 4th. That was brutal to watch and appeared to be extremely heart-breaking for him and his parents. But, he fought back and took 2nd at the NJCAA national championships as a sophomore in college.

With Sub-districts just around the corner, I thought I would bring this post back to the front page.

Be careful with the bubble wrap. I did that one year and the kid lost 8 pounds.

It doesn't ever stop once you get it in your blood - that sick feeling is seasonal and there is no easy cure.

Just click on this link below: Tom Ryan is the head wrestling coach for Ohio State - he is watching his redshirt freshman 133 pounder (Logan Steiber) in a finals match on TV back in the warmup area at NCAA Division I Nationals this year. Steiber is wrestling defending 2 time national champ Jordan Oliver from Oklahoma state in the finals. The video is the coach going through some serious emotions in the last few seconds of the match. Pretty funny - guess who wins.

I am not sure that I have ever been that animated, but it is hard to do when you have uncontrollable muscle dysfunction syndrome with stupid brain disorder followed up by the agitated twitch.

I think Windjammer has started the County Fair tour early this year?

I just happened to be checking state tourney results and I see this has been bumped back to the top. Holy cow that's been a long time ago since I wrote that.

I'll give you an update:

My son has graduated and now plays college baseball. We spent spring break doing baseball rather than wrestling, so I was still sick, just a different sick. I still check the message boards daily during the season but don't post very often since my family is out of the wrestling business.

Even though it made me sick, I am really jealous of you guys that still are in the kids wrestling. What a great time of my life that was. I met so many kids and parents that I continue to follow and count as friends. This forum has been a real blessing to me as well. I have appreciated your friendship and the opportunity to discuss wrestling and other silliness with you all.

I'm sure I will continue to read the forums and post occasionally. Maybe we can even do something fun once in a while. Thanks for reminding me of some good memories. I do appreciate it.

Windjammer, I take it the circus didn't come calling or your LLC fell through? Sounded like it was promising though.

The only reason I am ever glad to see the season end is because finally my "tourettes" (that only occurs during wrestling matches) is miraculously cured until the next season :-0

Good Luck and Safe Travels to all the Wrestlin Families!!!!!
