With Lampe headed over to Northwest Kansas Technical College, is Colby going to cut their wrestling program?

No, Colby is not dropping wrestling. I know Colby has been in search for a new HC for a couple months but I have no news as to who they may be looking at.

Colby hired a new coach. I saw it here somewhere. It was several weeks ago, but no they are not dropping wrestling at Colby Juco.

Colby Community College has announced the selection of David Nordhues to head the Trojan wrestling program. Nordhues will replace Steve Lampe who recently announced his retirement. A native of Greeley, Neb., Nordhues was a four-time state champion. He was a member of the CCC wrestling squad from 2001-03, and served as team captain during the 2002-03 school year.

I was a resident of Colby at the time David Nordhues attend CCC. I can say nothing but good things about David. He went on to wrestle at Fort Hays State and apparently was a favorite of the Hays Daily News. I subscribed to the paper and his picture was in there all the time. (I accused him of dating the photographer on a couple of occasions.) He will do a great job in the wrestling room and I would like to think that he will get CCC back to a level that Coach Lampe had it at several years ago.
David - the Moeder's wish you the best of luck. Get CCC back on track and slow Renfro down a little bit! smile

Coach Nordhues will do an excellent job at Colby. And also, Coach Lampe did not retire. He has started a program up at Goodland Technical College and it is going to be a great opportunity for him. Unfortunately Colby did not treat Coach Lampe too well and that is disappointing to hear. I talked to Coach Lampe this last weekend out at NHSCA in Virgina Beach and he was pretty upset about it. He had great things to say about his former program, but he wasn't seeing eye to eye with the current administration. I know Coach Lampe very well and it would take a lot for him to leave Colby. He will do a great job at Northwest Tech and I'm excited to see what he can do with that program. It is going to be awesome, because he will have so much more to offer at Colby also and kids have a couple of different routes to choose from with it being a technical school.
