Kansas Wrestling Forums General Discussion Freestyle/Greco Kansas National Team Information

For those interested in participating on the Kansas National Team (born in 1994 or 1995 for cadet qualifications) and if you are currently a freshman through senior in high school, we are interested in inviting you to have a great opportunity to compete against the best competition available in our country.

We recently have established what we are proud to call our “Regional Training Centers” throughout the state. These centers are going to be conducted by current or former coaches & athletes from our National Teams and will be held on Sundays between now, April 18, 2010 and the Cadet/Junior National tournament in Fargo on July 18th – 24th. During these workshops, wrestlers will practice from 1-4 p.m. on specific techniques that the staff has selected as “must win” situations.

We understand that not every athlete can make each training event. We are simply asking that you/your child attempts to attend a majority of the sessions. We are expecting every wrestler looking to make the Kansas National Team to attend 3 of the 5 workshops at the training centers. We understand that personal schedules (graduations, family events, holidays, etc.) might interfere with a training center date; therefore, we are giving you the option to choose which training center you attend on any given opportunity. These sessions are going to be free to the public and we invite all persons excited about this opportunity to attend. To participate in the workshop, you must have a current USA Wrestling card.

You are correct. Anyone that will qualify as a Cadet and/or Junior are expected to attend.

What about Schoolboy if they bring a partner and plan on going to Schoolboy Duals.

These workshops will be open to the public and for everyone of all ages. The only requirement is that you have a current USA Wrestling card. You should be able to contact Kathy Juby about attaining a card. We will not be selling those at these locations.

Hey Russ when do we sign up to be on the cadet team is it after state again?

Yes we will have sign ups at the state tournament. If you can't sign up on that day it is ok, but we will be taking care of most of it on that day.

just wondering does anybody have the date or info on team kansas training place(mcpherson again)and date ,and coast for fargo or coast for cadet or junior duals ,or flyers on them before state on the 8th

there is a thread on costs back a few weeks ago only remember Fargo is $500. And it didn't say anything about the training week. I was wondering the same thing because they have a regional training site scheduled for July 11th which if I recall was the 1st day of training week for Fargo last year.

The cost for attending the Cadet & Junior National tournament in Fargo, N.D. is $500 per wrestler. This cost includes the camp preceding the tournament. This year our camp is going to cut down in length. We will be checking in on the Wednesday before our team departure and the length of the camp will only be 3-4 days instead of a week. That is why we have scheduled a Regional Training Center on that Sunday the 11th.

If you placed at Southern Plains does this qualify you for Fargo?

Yes, if you place in the top 3 at a weight class this automatically qualifies you for that spot on the National Team for Fargo.

Russ, can you give us some info on Fargo. When do we have to sign up by? What paperwork do we need - like same as Cadet Duals?? Where is the camp and when do we need to have our kids there? Is there a van going from the KC area or not? What stuff do they need to bring? Can we sign up and pay at the Sunday practice session? Also, I see they weight in 2 times for freestyle, but what about greco. Thanks John

Can anyone give me a clue as to why a guy who was 9-0 at Junior Duals wouldn't be wrestling at Fargo?? Especially when he is a cadet?? I think there might be a sand problem!
