Junior 215 Round 6 (Bout 1961 M 11) - Josh Marchok (Illinois) vs. Kyle Caylor (Kansas)

Kyle takes the early 4-0 lead ... counters for 3 to win the frame!

Again Kyle counters the toss attempt for 3 and gains another ... Marchok scores the single ... and Marchok again plus 2 for a gut ... time expires and as Kyle scored the 3 he wins the period and the match!

Austin Hood is a National Champion!! I had typed a nice little play by play that was full of excitement but it didn't post!!

Regardless, Austin lost the first frame on a clinch. He won the second after scoring on a takedown and had the snake in and about to turn Schmitt but instead Schmitt wiggled out-of-bounds and gave up the caution and 2!

The final frame Schmitt scores first ... then with about 40 seconds to go ... Austin scored!! He held on and scored again as Schmitt was scrambling!

Austin Hood of Louisburg and Team Kansas is a double All-American and a National Champion!!!

(red will look great Doug)

As per usual, it has been a long yet productive week in Fargo, ND for Team Kansas! We have crowned three National Champs at Fargo MMX!!

Regrettably, we won't have anyone wrestling on the stage in this afternoons session but that will not diminish the accomplishments of all. We will have several going home with All-American status.

There are other tournament that give All-American status but this tourney and a couple of others, one truly earns that status.

We will have many others that have improved in their person and in their wrestling by being here! I would be remiss if I didn't mention the contingent of coaches, pairers and mat officials that represent the finest of Team Kansas so very well!

In a bit, the placement matches for Team Kansas juniors will be wrestled.

Junior 135 Finals (Bout 2047 M 5) - Brandon Charbonneau (Kansas) vs. Mark Pinero (Louisiana)

Junior 135 Finals (Bout 2048 M 3) - Jason Tsirtsis (Indiana) vs. Taylor Moeder (Kansas)

Both Brandon and Taylor battled gamely!

Brandon Charbonneau, as a 1st year junior, did a great job to place 6th in this tourney! Brandon is an All-American!!

Taylor Moeder tried valiantly for what would have been a first for Team Kansas. Regardless being the National Champ in Greco and a 4th place finisher in Freestlye is no small feat. Taylor is an All-American in Freestyle!
