looking on the national forums I see Atticus is pre-ranked and 285 for Cal-Poly now? .. a transfer from the wrestling rich minnesota?

Cal Poly adds Abel, Hampton, and Disney

Cal Poly added to its 2010 recruiting class by receiving verbal commitments from three transfer athletes: Barrett Abel and Stephan Hampton of UC Davis, and Atticus Disney of Minnesota.

Abel, who will be entering his senior season, was the Pac-10 champion this past season at 149 pounds. He entered the NCAA Championships as the No. 10 seed, but dropped his first two matches and was eliminated. He finished the season with a 21-9 record.

Hampton began his redshirt freshman season as the starting 184-pounder for UC Davis and posted a season mark of 5-10.

Disney is a three-time Kansas state champion at heavyweight. He was ranked as the No. 11 heavyweight in the country by InterMat from the Class of 2008. Disney posted an 18-3 record as a redshirt during the 2008-09 season, but did not compete this past season for the Gophers.

strange chain of events .. Last I heard he quit then he is transfering from the rich wrestling tradition that is Minnesota to Cal-Poly? .. Either way glad to see he didn't retire his shoes just yet

Sometimes there are underlying issues we may not know about. Look at other major names from the last few years and ask yourself where are they? I remember names like Ryan Sonderegger, Aaron Ely, and Romero Cotton that went 1 place and then wound up somewhere else. I am sure others have come and gone this past year to other schools, it is just being a former multi-time champion and being with a caliber school that is labled "Heavyweight University," his name is more in the where and why.

But like you mentioned, best of luck to him...I am sure he will light up whomever he faces. I believe he is ranked quite low too now, so room to come in under the radar and regain respect.
