I think there are a lot of schools that are "behind" in getting coaches on staff. Nothing like a last minute hustle. I would think at this stage, even with a bad economy it would be hard to get someone to committ to a coaching job, unless it had teaching $$$ attached to it.

I can't believe this program took the direction it did. Replacing a proven, winning coach with an unknown commodity, now leaving its Middle School program in limbo. What were these people thinking?

I'm pretty sure that the AD knows what he is doing being a successful former wrestling coach. He ran a great regional tournament last year.

Coach Jackson is a good coach and will do a fine job with the program. Patience.

Don't worry about Holton's wrestling program. There are good things to look forward to in the upcoming season...both in the JR High and the HS. WE the parents and wrestlers are looking forward to progress on the mat and in the room with Coach Jackson and staff.
Last year Coach Jackson led the JR High to win League and I am positive this will be the direction our program will continue to follow! But let's wait until the end of the season to say how it went!

I looked back to last years Big 7 Jr High League tourney team scores. As far as Jr High duals, they do not keep team scores, just individual win loss records as it is not ran in the traditional dual format.

League Team Scores

HOLTON 317
perry-lecompton 246
jeff west 206.5
santa fe trail 183
royal valley 134.5
sabetha 114.5
hiawatha 58

LOL..now I am the one amused smile But if you want to post your name I'll be glad to carry on a conversation with you.

By the way, Coach Howerton will be the assistant coach at Jeff West this upcoming season. I wish him a great season and am glad to see he is coaching this year.

Thanks favesport I am looking forward to a great season!

Everyone can take a calming breath as the Head Jr High coach for Holton will be Mitch Beims and assist. coach will be Mike Lovvorn.

I think they will have everything under control and give Holton every opportunity for a great season! Both are terriffic coaches and love the sport and in it for the kids!
