Last night was the Bonner Springs Clark/Topeka Seaman/Lawrence South dual. I don't have any info on scores. Sorry I was half awake from being on midnight shift. They had two mats going and it looked like all three teams had lots of kids wrestling. At one point a Lawrence South kid was waiting for an opponent but none showed up. A Topeka coach asks his weight, then plucks out a kid out of his team and they go at it. Wouldn't that be nice to get matches like that all the time.

Match of the night:127 lbs Alan Clothier LS and a Bonner Kid (anybody know a name). They went at it and went into OT with a Clothier escape at the last second. After Clothier's second medical, the Bonner wrestler chose bottom and gained an escape with about 15 seconds left. It was a very entertaining match and a real battle.

Good job young men. A battle like that will do nothing but make you that much better!

Also props to the crowd, coaches, and wrestlers as everyone stood and gave them a round of applause.

Thanks for the results Tim. It was good to see the names of quite a few wrestlers that I have watched wrestle in the Kids Federation over the years. There were some solid wrestlers in this Junior High Tournament. Hopefully more Jr Highs will have someone come on the forum and take the time to provide results as you have. Thanks again.

Thanks for the results. I too have enjoyed watching some of these kids wrestle over the years. I hope to see some of these kids wrestling in the Middle School State/Iowa duals qualifer this year. Some are already veterans of the Team Kansas experience. Good luck wrestlers!

Great job South Jr High. Looks like you are in line for another City Quad Championship. Don't let up, wrestle smart and wrestle hard.

I sure wish that the Wichita area middle schools would start their wrestling programs in November and be finished by January, instead we have the MS programs going during the meat of the Club season finishing up with the league championship tournament the week before Sub-Districts. Oh well, only one more year then Caleb will be in High School.

You nailed it on the head Crash99. The last two years my son wrestled Jr High, the season was over by the middle of December and he already had 17 and 21 matches before the Kids' season really got started. He was in mid season form once they hit the Kids' circuit and it really showed.

Junction City must have a solid team based on these last two posts. It looks like their high school will continue to be solid in the years to come.

I'd have to say your right on Lee. They have lots of quality kids who are serious about the sport! It was pretty neat to see a majority of the teams at the Seaman tourney with large groups of quality kids who were just hungry to get on the mat and get after it. Those schools should be very proud of their MS programs! I really enjoyed this tourney since we live in Lawrence smack dab in the middle of BB (yeah I said it) country yet there are schools like those listed above that love wrestling and have lots of kids wanting to be a part of it. Nice to see!

The future looks pretty good in Holton. They have really strong fresh/soph classes and with the jr high coming they'll be really good in 2 yrs. This years high school group is good. Just not as deep IMO.

I think you may be pleasantly suprised at the end of the season for the Holton High wrestling team...
Last year we took 5 to 4A state...all good kids with solid federation backgrounds...but we should have taken a couple more IMO.
This year looks like it is shaping up to be better than decent but we'll have to wait to see the outcome in February! And I am def. looking forward to watching my youngest and company wrestle in HS but happy enough to take it as it comes this year! When you have a SR and an 8th grader it makes all the moments in between all that more special!

I have no doubt about the quality of the Holton High School team this year. Strong group from top to bottom. The young kids will have trouble finding a varsity spot. But in two years, the varsity boys will be either fed kids or battle tested! Look forward to competing against them.
