High school wrestlers can't wrestle if they have already joined their high school team for that year. The ones that decided to wrestle in the Kickoff, had to miss the first week of high school practice, alpha weighins, etc.

Which Is absolutely a ridiculous rule. But despite countless efforts by some to change this in Kansas. KWCA or KSHSSA still continues to shove this restrictive ruling down the states throat. Which sucks

Oh well then its probably fine to be restricted from tournaments where you will see top level competition. Who wants to wrestle the best kids from around the country in our back yards. Good rule. How could being restricted from this type of competition possibly be good for the wrestler that wants to do it? And when I say good for... I mean good for the wrestler that wants to go. They should have the choice.

I'd love to hear the justification for this rule. Certainly doesn't appear to favor the athlete in any way.

Kickoff Results are posted on World Of Wrestling site. Look for Kickoff page and below the big eagle poster. The results at the top are void.

That dang thing reads like the Health care bill. You gotta have a PHD to understand it. All I have is a GED, bad disposition and anger management issues. Couple that with a complete lack of respect for authority and lets just say I don't like the rule. Or being told what we can or can't do.

While we were at the Kickoff we got to talking to a Dad of a Colorado high school kid that was in our bracket. Colorado has no such restrictions. That dad indicated that they are free to travel to whatever events they like. I am not 100% sure, but I believe he also indicated there was no travel restrictions.

It would be nice if KS changed the rule and allowed the coaches and parents to determine what meets were best for a particular high schooler.

They do! They can be home schooled and travel whenever and wherever they desire.
