That Lawrence South JH schedule is over-loaded with events and points. Do they split up their squad? Or just try to manage each individuals points? KSHAA rules state: "No student shall participate in more than 8 events and no more than 18 competition points during a season" They have 9 events and 24 points. I'm guessing they have a lot of kids and they don't all compete at every event.
Answer: The AD cancels duals, and on other duals kids who didn't get a chance earlier, get a chance now. The goal is to prepare them for the city dual championships. It'll be fun to watch and a good experience for the kids.
I'd like to see my boy compete in some of the other national tourneys, but in the long run it'll be worth it. Being a team captain, he's learned valuable skills that will help him as he grows into a young man. For that I am grateful. Individual excellence is awesome, but in the end sometimes you have to learn to sacrifice to see others excel.
"I will never leave a fallen comrade to fall into the hands of the enemy."
Good luck everyone as we near the end of (some of our) MS seasons and the beginning of the upcoming Kids Club season! Hopefullyt we'll all meet up at the MS State Championships in March and cheer each other on as Team Kansas at the MS Nationals duals in Iowa!
