I agree, back in the day. Especially with the 6U crowd - almost all are novice. Some just have a little better instinct for the sport at that age. We only wrestled open tournaments the first year our son wrestled as a 6U. The second year he wrestled 6U, we did do one novice tourney, but he bumped up to 8U for that one.
Picking the smaller open Saturday tourneys would be a good option if you didn't want to wrestle on Sundays.
