Looking for anyone interested in participating in team dual format, kids division only. My boys are going to be competing in the tournament on Saturday and I would be interested in coaching a team Kansas. Deadline is Feb. 22nd. Additional info can be found in the link below:

do they have teams by classes at these or are they just 14 under. it would be better if they would do it per age group and get more teams and more kids involved.

they usually do it by weight classes, so that all ages are included. nothing says that there is only one ks team.

That is correct. Duals will be based on weight only. Two divisions, HS and Kids division. That means that if a 4th grader is part of your line up he could very well end up wrestling an 8th grader.

so if they had it for all age groups dont you think more kids could participate and be able to wrestle as a team against other states at the same age group. then kansas teams could take top 2 or 3 in all age groups. i would allow my son to participate and possibly run a team of just 10 unders. not sure that is in the best interest for 6 under but maybe 8 under, 10 under, 12 under and 14 under. if kansas would let the highschool kids participate that would add more kids as well. just my opinion. having an 8th grade wrestle a 4th grader doesnt make much sense does it.

i guess my only other question is if they did seperate out the age groups would the facilities be able to handle that many kids. i look forward to trying this out in the future.

My sons been wrestling dual teams for several years. They are the first experience these kids have to preticipate on a wrestling team. And its really really fun for all of us. But its the weight you have to watch. A 10under 100lber should really not preticipate use good sense and if you an 8under 50lber he should be fine not to many 8th grade 50lber out there. Do them if you can your son will love it but will lose some matches most likely but its a great time

This will never happen but...
Wouldnt it be cool if someone ran a tournament in Ks and each district could send teams or if a club was large enough to send their own team to wrestle a duel format.
Limit it to 6th grade and below!
My son went to the elementary school duals last year on one of the Ks teams and had an awesome time.
It makes kids look forward to MS and HS wrestling!
Say $400 bucks a team times about 8 to 10 teams
That wouldnt be a bad little fund raiser for a club cause your medal and ref costs compared to say a novice tournament would be more then cut in half so your profit would be equal if not higher then say a regular novice tournament.
You would only need about 4 half mats and 4 sets of table workers and 5 refs.
Plus if you wrestled pool then bracket each kid would get at least 5 matchs!

Can you just be in the duels or do you have to wrestle in the tournament as well? Garrett would love to go at 120 but not sure if we can do both.

I just need names and the weights they plan on wrestling on Sunday. If in fact we don't fill the team we will not participate in the dual. Entry fee is $375/team. I thought I would divide that by each wrestler for entry to cover cost.

The bad part about this tournament is that they moved the date and it now falls on the same weekend as highschool state. This will be the first year that we will miss this event

Had a couple people ask me if you had to wrestle in the tourney to be in the duels. Can you verify for me if you have to or not?
