The Kansas City Wrestling Association is currently putting together a list of teams interested in competing in the 2011 Kansas City Wrestling Classic to be held on December 16th and 17th in Kansas City, MO. The 2010 tournament featured 32 teams from nine states. Among the teams, five are included in various national rankings and 14 finished either 1st or 2nd in their respective 2010 state tournaments. The different team’s brought several nationally ranked wrestlers. The field included approximately 15 Fargo All-Americans, 139 state qualifiers, 95 state medalists, and 32 prior state champions. Many weight classes contained multiple state champions. The tournament continues to be recognized by many national publications as one of the nation's top 20 tournaments. Many coaches like our unique format which allows for every wrestler to get 7 or 8 bout oppourtunities over two days.
We are always looking to add top quality competition to the tournament. The competition committee expects to meet in mid to late January to determine which teams to offer invitations for the 2011 tournament.
