Is SJA going to be able to make the trip out to western Kansas this year? I know that last year they had to switch to a tournament closer to home.

There were several teams that didn't make it to Garden last year including Holcomb which was just a few miles away! I cannot predict the weather but if it permits then we will be there. Last year the trip to Denver the week before coupled with multiple snow days made it impossible for us to go. I was there though! smile

Yeah, I went back and looked at last year's tournament preview just to look at what all transpired to keep SJA from attending. I knew the trip to Denver was a factor, but I forgot that weather was another issue.

Hopefully, you won't have another flight already booked from LA to GC again, that can't be a cheap flight. I'll give you a ride in my racecar if it happens again.

I hope either Taylor Moeder or Ryne Cokeley will move to 145 for this tournament for a possible matchup with Travis Himmelman of Conifer. One of those possible matches would be worth the price of admission.

Ryne isn't cutting any weight so 145 is not going to happen.

Travis, Taylor and Ryne have all wrestled each other before and they are friends. I think they are going to stay in their seperate weight classes since they are seniors.

I honestly couldnt tell you when it was Taylor and Travis last wrestled a Folkstyle match but I beleive Travis won the last one. I know they wrestled eachother in a challenge match at Reno for 2nd place years ago, but not even sure who won that one or who was even challenging the placing.

As a coach Mr. Welton won nine high school team state wrestling championships, the first three at Goodland High School and six at Garden City High School. The first was in 1972.

More difficult trivia. . .

at what high school did "The Rock" start his coaching career; and for bonus points, what well known Kansas wrestling referee was "The Rock's" successor at this school?

You may begin. . .

Rob Ross was NOT Rocky's successor. Fred Scott followed him, I believe. Then John Kendal, Fairchild, Don Scott, Rob Ross, Tom Scott, Pewthers. The first coach at Liberal was Gerald Sadowski.

I definitely defer to your "Liberal" knowledge as you are a true "Liberal" guy having grown up in the "Liberal" environment and having received a "Liberal" education and competed for a "Liberal" wrestling team.

What current kids club coach wrestled for Greg Mann as a Freshman and Rocky Welton as a Senior?
