There shouldn't be. If a kid is that close that he can't work it off at home, he shouldn't be wrestling in that weight.

Spit on the way to Wichita! He'll make it! If he can make it he is cutting to much weight for a youth wrestler.

I think if they gave a pound it wouldnt kill anyone!
I think some HS are giving weight this week due to HS rules.
2 pound allowance for after Christmas and I think its 1 pound per day that school is closed before weigh ins. so if school is closed Tue and Wed and they weigh in on Thursday I THINK they would be allowed 4 pounds!!!
But either way it is what it is!!!

You shouldn't be worrying about weight this time of year . A kid should be able to miss a practice and still make weight. They have enough stress as it is. Randy says it best in his bronze clinics, children should have as little stress as possible. Besides weights go up every THREE POUNDS not ten pounds.

I think parents may have their kids cutting to much weight. You sign up to wrestle 61, make 61. Snow days give your kids a ton of extra time to do something on their own. Like it was stated earlier, if your kid can't make the weight signed up for because of a snow day, they are cutting to much.

And besides Brawlers had open night last night and if you cant make weight after that then move up.Great way to make up a practice or change up a practice. I couldn't imagine being a kid and not being able to eat some good stuff. That is what being a kid is all about. If you are making them cut weight at a early age then you are doing it for YOU and not for them.

They gave 4pounds at the height Carroll duel. I herd a guy at hasvill tournament tell another guy not to let his wrestler have fluids for the last 3 days of the week. That's nuts. But I due think a pound after this week would be ok.

I'm just trying to figure out why this is even being questioned. If you signed up for a weight, you make that weight. It's not Rocket Science.

Its being questioned because someone was curious about a question or idea and other people happen to have a few opinions on the matter. If its no interest to you then move on to the next topic.

I didn't say they should give 4 pounds...
If they gave .5 to 1 pound it wouldn't be that big of a deal especially since HS rules allowed some schools to give up to 4 pounds this week due to school being closed.
If they were giving 4 pounds I would expect Zach to to 120 this week lol

It's being questioned so the path can be prepared for the child instead of the child being prepared for the path. Things in life happen unexpectedly. Learn to deal with them and still fulfill the obligations you made. You put down a weight, make the weight. No Excuses.

Mark missed 2 practices (Mon & Tue) and is still 1 1/2 lbs under.
The only thing he cut out was sugar (except pop tarts). At the TOC he was almost 2 lbs under. I think if a club would allow a weight allowence because of a snow day, then they would have to let the disciplined kids enter at a new weight. If I did to my son what other dads do, then he would easily be 55 instead of 58.

i'm feeling you mark
we want in at 52 instead of 58. we only weighed 56.5 last night. blaine will eat nothing but snow today and come in at 54, that's 1 lb for no practice, and 1 pound for only being 6 RIGHT?

So in your opinion...
What would you say to someone who called after the tournament deadline and wanted to move up or down a weight class because of lifes unexpected happenings?
Would that be same preparing of the path as a club allowing a weight allowance?
I used to be a hard core weight liner until all 3 of my son were wrestling in weight classes were 10, 17, and 70 pounds apart.
I cam to realize that 1% weight difference isn't going to change the out come of the match.

Like I said either way it don't matter to me!
I just don't think kids need to worried a pound or so when its due to weather vs just sitting on the couch playing video games eatting BBQ Chips!

Why should the kids have to worry? Did they sign themselves up at a certain weight? It's the parents responsibility to sign them up at a weight where NOBODY has to worry! It's funny, that extra 1% of weight sure mattered when deciding which weight to originally sign-up at.
