Grand State is in place and the opportunity does exsist. Go to subdistricts, district and then state - the young men just need to show up and settle the rankings and prove who is the best in the state at their weight.

Does the date of State conflict with SR. Nationals though?

Leave the Birds like Chickens and Ducks for a farm. C'mon Kansas Wrestlers, put em on and come out swinging!

How about this as an added option:

Get 3a, 4a, 5a, and 6a to come up with their own Sr. All Star team, then have 3v4 and 5v6 rd 1 (nite before Kids State), 3v5 and 4v6 (end of 1st nite of Kids State), and then 3v6 and 4v5 right before Championship Round of Kids State (or After)

This is a change from last year? I have no problem with it if it is, just curious.

if they don't want to keep weight down, so be it. NO EXCUSES.

every year we hear GRAND STATE THIS, GRAND STATE THAT. as far as that dual thing maybe in Denver that day????? NO EXCUSES.

if you don't show, you can't claim it.

Probably mentioned already but along with proving who is the state's best at each wieght, it could also be a place where kids wanting to wrestle in college might get another chance to be seen.

According to track wrestling 280 HS division kids went to state, not sure how to find the #'s for the kids that didn't make it out of subdistrict and district.

yep in words easier for all to understand chief's ranking don't mean anything, except that he has lot's of free time, and enjoys spending it with usawks, and kwca.

Is it really the wrestlers that want to see this? My son will have wrestled more than 40 times this year, and he is ready for it to be over. Right now he is 30 and 4, ranked in 3A, and is ready to eat again! Counting regionals and state, he has 3 more tourney's this year.
He is beat up, tired and sore to the bone. He has told me this year he does not want to go on to kids state. I'm not pushing him in either direction. If the kids want to strut their stuff, let them. Don't try and force these kids into doing something YOU want them to do. Remember, you're not the one that has wrestled all season after tearing up your knee in football. They can make up their own minds.

Here is the deal. If it was sanctioned by the KSHSAA is would mean something totally different that it does as it stands now. No college coach cares about USA wrestling "Kids" or "federation" titles - no offense. They would care about a KSHSAA sanctioned grand state title. As it stands now this title if purely for bragging rights and as stated above most kids are beat and burnt by now. Not slamming USAWKS that have been great for the sport in this state, but don't try to say we already have grand state. It's not the same. As we are starting to talk to college coaches they don't care if he has won zero or 100 federation or kids titles. All they care about is how many titles has he won in HS (or how he as done) and what he has done at Fargo. Federation titles are great building blocks and bragging rights, but they are not grand state.

Just being honest.
