Just watched the Missouri State Championships on KC TV (METRO SPORTS). We, Kansas, can't even get a website for each regional.

Some good wrestling in MO Championships. Think OAK Park had four state champs. Cody Brewer got # 4. I was impressed with Neosho (down in the SW corner of Mo). Neosho the Mo Class 3 champs, and they beat Oak Park by 25 points.

Come on KSHSAA, and Bowden for your swan song, why not some TV coverage?

In Leavenworth , we got to watch live last night on community channel 3, it was AWESOME all 4 classes in one venue. Outstanding wrestling. It seems to me that Missouri officials are quick to call stalling, even when it didn't appear to be, in Kansas I have rarely seen it called even when its obvious. Hats off to MSHSAA for an wonderful job of covering this event. We could learn a lot from these guys!

Correcto on all points.

Yes, Mo refs certainly quicker on the stall call than Kansas refs. Keeps the wrestlers moving. Refs let the Kansas kid grunt and groan, twist and jump around, but don't improve their position. This has been an issue for a long, long time. Evidently, no one, KSHSAA or the Refs Association, is listening. What you will hear from the refs is that it's a judgment call, coaches don't like quick alls, been doing it so long it would be hard to change, etc. Why not just enforce the rule book in Kansas. Did not see any coaches complaining or hear the crowd booing when the MO refs called stalling. Mo thinks that is part of the match, plus the crowd nknows stalling when they hear see it!!

if you have not seen the 3/2/1A done out in Hays, you have not seen anything. First they do a class job of running the event, but for finals they have the public televison channel come in and live broadcast it. They have multiple cameras and commentators who actually know wrestling. They did last year at IBA for the 6/5A for the finals.

Great.

I sent an enail earlier today to the METRO SPORTS Program Director telling him what you just said. Sent him an email last year: same subject, same content, asking why not Kansas State Tournaments on his KC channel? Told him I think Cox Broadcasting did the IBA and FHSU site telecasts.

Smoky Hills Public Television doesn't just broadcast the finals. Friday's live coverage includes quarterfinals, semifinals and as much of the 1st round consolation as they can show in conjunction with the semis. They can split screen the coverage, assuring 2 mats.

Saturday's coverage will include (new this year) 5th and 3rd place matches in addition to the finals. The finals will be rebroadcast Sunday afternoon.

I don't know what Metro Sports in Missouri covered...I'm assuming just the finals. Smoky Hills provides much more coverage than that. I do realize other classes aren't recognized as much

Get all the state tournaments in one location would help. I know there are challenges in venue, but we don't even try. 321 says they love Hays but then complain when the bigger classes don't give them any respect. If we were all together to see each others best it would help us all appreciate the others talents. 4a now seems happy in Salina.

At some point LEADERSHIP needs to take control and "say it's not about any individual class and what they like but what is good for wrestling as a whole in KS. I will not happen though. KS is too against change.
