Entries w/ records are up, looks like there will be quite a few kids with 20+ wins staying home next weekend.

I just wanted to send out a special thank you the the staff and volunteers that made the Goodland Regional such great weekend of wrestling. The competition was top notch and the tournament was ran smoothly. Hats off to Mr. Ferguson, Aaron Duel, and the Custodial staff for all of their hard work. Thanks you to all of the fans that attended and keep the noise level at a constant roar. I would also like to say I found the reffing to be of the highest quality. Finally, I would like to thank those media outlets that provided top notch coverage of the event.

ouch. At Silver Lake we had a 103lb kid make it with 4 minutes left on Friday night. What a terrible way to end your season.

Great all-around regional experience at Goodland, although your PA guy is LOUD.

Agreed. Thought it was because we had mics on the floor that were open, but found it hard to hear myself over him sometimes as well. Minor detail, overall a good venue especially now that Goodland is back to 321a and schools are closer.

But I have also been to tournaments that you couldn't hear the person announcing so either way is frustrating. Goodland regionals was very well organized and very much ahead of schedule. Great job Goodland

This regional produced 5 of the top 10 teams:
#1 Norton, #2 Hoxie, #4 Scott City, #9 Oberlin, & #10 Goodland.
7 individual state champions:
112 Clay Mulligan
119 Dylan Schumacher
130 Troy Bainter
160 Landon Keiswetter
171 Spencer Shirk
215 Luke Hayes
285 Dillon Salmans
13 state finalists, and 32 state placers. A very fine showing for Western Kansas wrestling. The state tournament was a blast to be part of, and I look forward to preparing for next year.

glad to see Western picking up some again. Back when I was young, they had 3 tournaments in the series-District, Regional, and State. The NW district was pretty much a preview of the next two, with over half of the state champions coming from 6 teams of the old NWKL on a consistent basis. Plus, Colby and Goodland, who were up a class in those days, would have several between them!

Did the east just get better, or is it just the lower number of kids to work with?
