I'm not sure how many wrestlers Clay Center took but Norton didn't take a full team to Newton. They took 7 wrestlers. AND their 135lb stud, didn't make the trip. FYI
48th Annual Newton Tournament Of Champions final results 1 228.50 Tulsa Union High School 2 163.00 Derby High School 3 140.00 Clay Center High School 4 120.50 Norton High School

I do know that Clay Center was missing their 215 that weekend.

In case you don't know they do not stop competition just because some of your team does not show up. Yes they were missing some of their team and so were we. They have a very good team and congrats on another 321A title to Norton.

I'm sure Chiefs knows that competition goes on, that's not the point. The question is which team, at full strength, is the better team. If Norton was missing a state runner up from their roster at Newton, and had a bunch of illness that significantly affected their team score, then that should be considered when using that tournament's results for head to head match up.

Why wait till after the Sr Classic for the final rankings? That should have nothing to do with what the kids did in high school. That's like waiting for the kids state to be over before you do the final rankings. I could understand your reasoning if all 10 ranked kids in each weight class were wrestling in the classic......but that's not the case.

Maple vs. Napier was decided in the Senior Classic. We don't know the match-ups for that event yet. For the most part, I don't expect many changes and probably none at the top. I have made a few already based on the Park City results in the lower weights. The Kids series will matter, taking into effect change in weights and other factors. Two wrestlers that have never met is the key criteria. Losing to an opponent you have already beaten, especially in the state bracket may not change anything.

All-Class rankings are expected to be finished tomorrow. I have one weight class that I'm still considering.

Chief Renegade is quoted above "I don't expect many changes and probably none at the top."
It looks like it did change the #1 position at 130 lbs. Bainter beat DeShazer during the High School season, but lost to him at the Sr. Classic 4 weeks after the high school season is over. It appears like it was the last match that made you change the All-Class rankings.

Matches held during the season should carry more weight than voluntary matches 4 weeks after the season is over. JMO.

That one was very tough for me. Troy looked really good out in Denver. He beat some quality kids out there and his character stood out as a statement to his coaching and upbringing. As close as the first match was over two months ago, combined with the fact that they were at the same weight competing in a high profile match, I made the decision to honor the latest victory.

Hopefully nobody goes crazy and punches a Soda Machine over this decision!
