Kansas Wrestling Forums General Discussion Kids Folkstyle D2 Brackets !!!!!!

I just got off the phone with Steve Foster about the D2 Brackets. The State is building the brackets and as soon as they are done he will begain to add in the 5th and 6th place kids that will move on to next Sat.. Everyone take a deep breath Steve says he will have everything updated ASAP and will do his best to have it all done by Tues. night. We need to remember that while Steve is one of the best in Kansas at running Trackwrestling he does have a real job that he has to at least do some work at each day. LOL Thanks Steve your doing a great job!!!

I agree, As far as I know Mr. Foster is THE BEST at the track wrestling system.

I thought that sub-district was a qualifying tournament, yet wrestlers that did not place in the top four are advanced. Doesn't seem right to me. Why not just have a State Tournament and let everyone enter. That makes more sense to me.

the fifth and sixth place "alternates" are used when a sub- district can't fill the top four places.

maybe there were only three kids
maybe there was an injury that wouldn't allow the 4th place kid to move on
maybe it conflicts with family vacation
i don't know

in all these cases, some kid should get the opportunity to fill the empty spot. maybe that makes more senst now.

I would like to see the State brackets full too. It is terrible to see the Bye twins in a sixteen man bracket while there are a couple of quality wrestlers sitting at home who would love to be there.

As far as who gets to fill the vacancy if there is only one, how about offering the open spot to the District that started Subs with the most wrestlers in that weight class. If there are two, offer the second spot to the District with the second most. Rock, Paper, Scissors if they started with the same number of wrestlers.
