The 14, 10,7,4,2,1 system is what I used as I was trying to guesstimate where we would end up. When Richard posted the NFHS numbers, we went with that. I just assumed they had changed. Either way, we come up short. Furches is correct, with advancement points, a team like Derby would be a lot higher, based on advancement points for the additional 10 kids they took to state, that didn't place. Same with Salina, Colby, etc.
I didn't hear anything negative in Furches' post about the mythical title. He is correct, but if any coach tells you he or the kids don't pay attention to it, they are lying to you. Whether it ever becomes official or not, it is going to be used by us as a motivational tool to instill a "team" atmosphere in our room. Back side points from non placers has won state titles for many high school teams. Lots of times HS team titles are won by 1 or 2 points.
My only complaint about Furches is his boy beat one of our boys on Sunday. Pretty rude of him.
