New weight classes, no more figure four on the head, out of bounds line is now in bounds (interesting) and rules for dual meets. Rules Changes 2011-2012

They need to be more specific on the out of bounds ruling. The out of bounds line is now inbounds? Need to be more specific.

How much more specific does it need to be? It seems fair clear what this rule change means. Previously at the high school folkstyle level and below, if a supporting point of both wrestlers were touching the boundry line or beyond, then the match was stopped and reset at the center. Starting next year however, the line will now be in bounds, so in order for the match to be stopped, if a supporting point of both wrestlers are touching the area beyond the boundry line, then the match will be stopped.

Effectively, for a regulation size match with the correct markings, this will add two inches to the circumference of the mat. I guess in a way I understand where your concern is i.e Do the wrestlers supporting points have to be completely off or outside of the boundry line to be considered out, or just touching a part of the mat outside of the boundry line? Well in this case it is the latter. I imagine that perhaps next year as is customary, they will add verbage to clarify this.

So to me it sounds like it is similar to college out of bounds rules. The figure four being taken away for a pinning combo to me is going to get penalized a lot.

This move was being used by high school wrestlers more and more on the head,
so to minimize the risk of injury, the committee voted to outlaw the Figure 4 on the
head as well as around the body and both legs, said Bob Colgate, NFHS assistant
director and liaison to the Wrestling Rules Committee.

In developing news, the high crotch takedown and the spiral ride are being used more and more on an opponent and will be outlawed as well.

Yes, i was wanting clarification regarding what you are talking about in your second paragraph. I am pro expanding the wrestling mat and would love to see out of bounds rules similar to that of a college match.

Great action is stopped way too often because of the out of bounds rules.

Not to mention the individual referee's interpretation of said rules.
