How many states sent teams to Cadet Duals? Wondering if number of states entered dropped due to site change to to Florida?

I talked with one of the Missouri Coaches and he said the number of teams was about the same.

What if any effect does a decrease of 20% have? Will this cause them to think harder about location in the future or will it not matter?

I also see that the number of FS teams is the same as last year. I think it will have minimal effect. I believe their main goal was destination instead of proximity.

They did announce that Cadet Duals will be held at the ocean center in Daytona Beach, Florida next year,
Maybe we should start some plans for fundraising and etc.

Or we could continue to boycott the event until they bring it back to an area of the country that is affordable.

Boycott only hurts young Kansas wrestlers. Not competing against some of the Nations best will only hurt Kansas wrestlers.

We in essence boycotted this year ... how did that work out on getting them to move the tourney?

Fargo, ND is a very expensive trip for most ... either you pay the price or don't go!

And how will giving-in and going to a place that is unaffordable serve us in the future? Further prove we are willing to roll over and let the national folks walk all over a state that is 100% USAW sanctioned? It's time to for us as a state to grow a spine!

And that is a decision that each wrestler's family can make on their own. When it is a team event such as the duals we see that the inability of just a few wrestlers to make the trip effects the whole team/state.

Well if I looked correctly, there were 5-6 states that had to travel further then Kansas would have had to go to make it to Florida, and they didn't come up with excuses.

my 2 cents doesn't really count but boycotting does not seem like the right idea.

Looks like boycotting worked really well when you have states that have to travel twice as far to get there. Places like Idaho and Utah still showed up and are most likely laughing at us, and saying things like no wonder we can come up with 4 D1 All Americans and Kansas is lucky to have one this year, keep it up Kansas. Boycotting was a lame excuse for poor planning on our part. It shouldn't matter where it is in the US. We know in advance and should have a plan in place to get our kids there instead of waiting for the last minute and saying well we are just not going to go.

For the record there was NO organized boycott! Rather, we simply couldn't field a team because too few parents could afford to send their wrestlers. In the future, we can further subsidize this trip at the expense of our Kansas Kids folkstyle (think tax), or we can tell our national leaders to move the event to a more affordable site.

wouldn’t rotating the tournament to a different region each year be the most fair setup for everyone? Funny how nobody on this forum thinks its expensive for the Florida team to travel to the Midwest !
