My son is 5 and getting ready to start wrestling next week. I am used to the wrestling thing because of my younger brother Derrick Weller. Now being a parent I have no idea what to do for my son. He will be wrestling for Tonganoxie but thats all i know

When I was a club president, I always gave this link/handout to our wrestling parents:

www.iswa.com/Parent's%20Guide.pdf

I always stressed the portion titled "parents role" and some "do's and dont's." I always said you should be clapping for and hugging your lil wrestler when they walk off the mat, win or lose.

Good luck. Tongie has always had good kids wrestling for them. A good place to start!

Since he is wrestling for Tongie, the first thing you need to teach him is to give wet willies to Clayton Himple and Asher Huseman....ha!

Seriously, just be positive, make it fun and focus on learning technique. Don't worry about the winning and losing, that will come soon enough. The Tongie team is a great group of folks and Coach Goebel does a great job with the kids!

Good luck and have fun.

Best advice listen to Derrick and Grandpa. They have been nothing but helpful to my son jonny and I. Over the last 9 years between the four, we've made every mistake mistake in the book. I know u luv this . "Listen to daddy" LOL
