Does anyone know when they will be released? Do some of you already know if you're hosting a regional or not?

Thanks

I believe the intent is to release the Regional Assignments on December 01, 2011.

Thanks. I'm surprised that some schools haven't come out and said they're hosting regionals yet. Maybe they haven't been contacted yet.

I remember a few years ago, I got a burr under my saddle because the regional assignments were not released for what seemed like ages. I am better now. it will all be good.

Pretty sure those schools being considered as Regional hosts have been or are being contacted. However, Regional assignments will not be released until all host sites have been secured.

You may remember a couple of years ago there was a LONG delay on announcing regional assignments due to several schools declining to host.

BTW, Norton has not been asked to host a 321A Regional this year. frown

How are teams from Topeka in the same regional as Colby? Horrible splits this year. Who comes up with these?

I hear you!! In the seven years going to regionals, starting with Tanner and ending with Konnor, i will have travelled 1526 miles just to get there. Double that mileage for the return trip!!

I was surprised to see that they have TMP, Plainville, Stockton and P-burg going to Lakin, when they're nearby. The lines they've drawn are kinda odd this year.

I'm not saying it's any easy job. It has to be hard to fit them all in but 4A basically has 4 regionals on the east side of the state. Since when is Topeka western Kansas? It's like they just took all the left overs and threw them in the Chapman regional. But seriously, whose job at KSHSAA is it to pick who goes where after sites are picked?

They probably just google it and see what school is closest for them to go to:

Colby to Chapman 3hrs 50mins
Colby to Spring Hill 6hrs 14mins
Colby to Mulvane 5hrs 4mins
Colby to Fort Scott 7hrs 14mins

Topeka to Chapman 1hr 17mins
Topeka to Spring Hill 1hr 23mins
Topeka to Mulvane 2hrs 35mins
Topeka to Fort Scott 2hrs 19mins

Dang, sure makes Kansas seem big. I guess Chapman don't sound so bad now.
We have never had to drive farther than 2.5 hours for regional though and I feel bad.

Yea I guess, if you consider 4 top tens in one regional and 1 in another "evenly weighted". smile
Plus Garden City also has Hutch and Maize which are probably like #11 and #12.
But you didn't say "evenly weighted" I know Chief, you said "more evenly weighted than in the past".
It's basically like every year in 6A, two "tough" regionals and two "weak" regionals.
5A looks more balanced this year though.

Do you know if any school out west applied for a regional?

Well, when you look at it like that, 5A doesn't look better balanced this year.
But at least the top 5 are not in the same regional though as in years past.
