If a kid wrestles Open and Novice tourneys, do they need to weigh in for both tourneys, or will the Friday weighin be good enough? By state rules that is not allowed. Weigh in has to be withing 24 hours or the tournament, make no sense for novice tournament, which we should have adressed during the state meeting or at least put someone on point to do so. If clubs are going to cheat weight on a novice tournament they need their charter pulled. It also adds to club officials that have been wrestling all day to hustle back and weigh kids in again for the next day. so by rules, no, by all common sense yes.

But how would we know if someone cheated? And I guarantee you, someone will cheat! Otherwise there would be no need for weigh-ins period.

so by rules, no, by all common sense yes. What club officials have been wrestling all day?? A sanctioned novice tournament held on a different day than the open tournament is a separate tournament, hence the need for a weigh-in. Sadly, I have witnessed many unfortunate events at Kids Wrestling Tournaments, to include Novice Tournaments, and there was a need for a weigh-in procedure.

Please explain to me why a weighin would be "closed". A parent should be able to be with their child.

Gets crowded, parents and coaches hanging around and socializing, also arguing about scales off when overweight and so on. What purpose does a parent serve in the room?

If a kid is wrestling in both the open and novice tourney, they must weigh in again for the novice on Sunday. By rule, they must be weighed in no more than 24 hours in advance of wrestling at the tournament.

Don't we say a club oficer to be present? Head coach or assistant coaches, president or VP? I am betting 95% of them were wrestling on Saturday. Then they hustle back home for novice weigh ins. That is the way our club has been and I am sure we are not alone. I could have a novice parent weigh them in, but I was always assuming that it had to be a club representative. Novice parent usually don't fill that role.

I will take the bet that "95% of them were wrestlng on Saturday." I will state that 100% of the club officers, coaches, or parents are not wrestling on Saturday. They may have kids that are wrestling but they certainly are not wrestling.

I should have added Attending a wrestling tournament for the nit pickers. Just like Richard to see it completely backwards.
