Thought it would be nice to have a thread leading up to this event. Thoughts, comments on this tourney?

Bethany (NAIA)should be on that list too.

I don't think Benedictine is competing in any competitions until next season.

Thanks for letting me know Kevin...fixed.

There may be a few other contenders but that is the majority.

125 will be an exciting weight. There will be very good wrestlers that don't place.

I really hope they get a webcast going too...I can't make it up there either.

This is the only thing online that I can find associated with this tournament other than what we posted on this thread.

125...Gut says Vesta...I seriously think there are 3-5 guys that could win it though. If you're there...watch all of the 125 matches you can.

133...Hughes vs. Barnes in the finals...they've both beat each other this year and learned each others strengths.

141...Basks over Napier in the finals.....Basks has been wrestling really well this year and Napier struggled early but is turning it up lately.

149...Davenport gives Means a run for his money in the finals. Davenport hitting his stride and Means not wrestling his best lately. This will be a great match! Means is the favorite.

157...Koehn

165...Orr

174...Hall

184...Clarke

197...Anderson over Kriss in a tight final. Kriss the favorite...but Anderson will be game. Muscle will be on display!

HWT...Hmmm....Glenn probably the favorite. I don't know much of anything about the Baker heavy. Anything can happen at HWT.

With all that said. I'm guessing there are a few Baker guys that will challenge, Colby has some challengers, Crank at Bethany is good. Pratt has Keiswetter that is good.

There will be surprises...that's why they wrestle the matches.

Great event, the Kansas Cup! Great for our state! Go check it out if you can.

Here’s my best shot…

125-1.Vesta, 2.Tamayo, 3.Hase, 4.Jones
*Obviously Newport could factor into the mix here.

133-1.Hughes, 2. Barnes, 3.Johnson, 4.Martinez

141-1.Napier, 2.Basks, 3.Campbell, 4.Arnold
*Basks comes in as the hotter wrestler and is the definite favorite on paper. Just going with a hunch here though that CJ wins a close one.

149-1.Means, 2.Davenport, 3.Price, 4.Lovorn

157-1.Koehn, 2.Crank, 3.Marshall 4.
*If Aguirre was in for LCC, the placing wouldn't change IMO.

165-1.Orr, 2.Thoman, 3.Hill, 4. Lewis

174-1.Hall, 2.Owen, 3.Kieswetter(sp), 4.Armstrong

184-1.Clarke, 2.Hambleton, 3.Hasenbank, 4.Braun

197-1.Kriss, 2.Anderson, 3.Steiert(sp), 4.Grist
*Not sure how close it will be, but if it is, Kriss has strong advantages on the mat IMO.

Hwt-1.Glenn, 2.Berg, 3. Guerrero, 4. Tuaquoi

The Tigers take the title, followed closely by the hard nosed Red Birds, with the Colby Trojans, and Baker Wildcats coming in a distant 3rd & 4th. Should be a lot of fun!

Live Video link for tomorrow is up on Baker's schedule now. That's a big step towards giving this even the kind of coverage it should be getting. I'll keep my fingers crossed for regularly updated brackets tomorrow.
