Out of state competition is great but I can't stand the mentality that competing out of state is the greatest and toughest thing a wrestler or team can do in season. Sorry to break the news to you folks but Kansas has some damn good wrestlers also.

I would say all bordering states with kansas are very similar on a competitive level. I would give Kansas the edge in most cases.

Nebraska - Kansas is 2-3 levels tougher
Missouri - I would give Kansas a slight edge
Oklahoma - Depends on the year. But I did just listen to Dan Gable's commentary during the Okie State vs Iowa dual. Gable took time during the dual to talk about John Smith not being able to get the quality Oklahoma kids to his program that he once did.
Colorado - Kansas 1-3 levels tougher.

I would put good money on many Kansas wrestlers who are currently undefeated wrestling SJA's schedule and at the end of the year would still be undefeated. Nothing against SJA but you keep reminding everybody how tough the competition is you wrestle.

Not trying to take anything away from teams seeking competition and or wrestling out of state. But keep it in perspective. High school kids do not make and the schedules and most the time the coaches don't have much say either. But Kansas kids can compete and have proven it and will continue to.

I agree - why do all of those out of state teams come to Kansas to wrestle at the GE, Bobcat, Netwon, Garden City, and others?

Nebraska - I agree
Missouri - Not quite
Oklahoma - No KS team can hang with Union.
Colorado - Watch Garden City this weekend.

I am really busy today and I am not sure a response as ridiculous this even deserves any of my time.

I don't know who you are so it is hard for me to understand how credible your opinion might be. Of course, the most ridiculous posts come from those who wish to remain unknown.

Last year's Metro Classic 41-19 Missouri. This year's Bobcat: 35 teams, 30 from Kansas and five from out of state. Four of the top 5 were out of state. 14 of 28 finalist were out of state.

Gardner, the top four teams from Gardner were from out of state. No finalist from KS until 145.

Yes, Oklahoma is down. We might be close to them now but we are still behind them. Tulsa Union crushes are best teams. We are ahead of Nebraska but we have a million more people. Lets just look at KC, MO. Blue Springs and Park Hill would crush our best teams. Colorado...lets talk about them after the Garden City tournament. You didn't mention Iowa... Your thoughts? KS is behind. There are great wrestlers in Kansas but the competition is spotty.

That's what I'm talking about Chief.
Thanks for the blessing and vote of confidence. I feel much better now. I kind of had my dauber down with that mirror comment, cut like a knife.

I don't know how to take this. Are you saying I am a trouble maker and need to repent? Beeson at least got some encouragement from you? What, you don't want to see me there? Freaking 5a guys........ I think you like Beeson more than me. And you and me have the same hair do!!? What the heck? Thought we were better buddies than this.......I'm P O'd

I'm going to stock up on fish...........The other day, I actually turned my underwear right side out for my wife, so she didn't have to look at the hash mark while they were laying in the hamper. That has to get me some points somewhere.....

NOW WAIT a minute! I have been trying to use population differences for years to explain why we finish in the top 10 as opposed to the top 3 team-wise in any number of national competitions. You have always said in effect that population shouldn't matter.

Chalk one up for Sport0. I was waiting for that. I put a little cheese out there for you. Nebraska has lots of problems in their non HS wrestling organizations. It seems OK has been experiencing some of that too of late. My issue with KS is that we have gone backwards in the last 10 years. I still think the single biggest improvement would be to allow coaches to have contact with their kids from March-Sept.

Remember, normally only the best in out-of-state teams travel. What comes to the Bobcat and a few other tourneys are not necessarily representative of the whole state. You can't make a determination on the quality of one state vs another on these few teams. However, the very top end of Missouri is real tough -but, they have rooms that never stop running and run practices all year long. As they told us at Oak Park (Victory) after Fargo, we will run practice as long as kids show up. And, there were no new fees. Until Kansas starts taking it serious like that, we will have trouble with their top end, but we can sure compete with everyone else.

And, I have watched Justin Scott (Jeff West) for years - if he is not ranked this year - he will be next.

How ever you take it doug747, don't take it bad. I am definitely not saying you are a trouble maker, in fact quite the opposite. As much as I like Beeson, how could I ever like him more than you (don't get offended Beeson). You said that you need to step it up doug747, insinuating that you weren't going to get to Heaven if you didn't. So I said yes, you need to step it up. Why, because I definitely want to see you there. Hopefully you will be there waiting for me with open arms and a great big smile (not necessarily saying that I want to outlive you or that I want you to pass before me). Is that encouragement enough? Hopefully. But you are right about 5A, I have always been a 5A guy at heart. 5A rocks, and Ark City rolls, and rules, and Beeson destroys, and Biddle is the man whether Ark City or Winfield, and Goddard was 5A when they won their first state title, and they are 5A again, etc. and obviously 5A is the best, just look at Chief's rankings, and Andover Central beasts but don't like that they hijacked AC because AC used to be Ark City before Andover Central was Andover Central and now Ark City is Ark and Andover Central is AC and that's confusing. But Andale is awesome for sure, and so are their kids and families and fans, even though they are just 4A. And yes, we do have the same hair do but you still look better in a visor and I have always been a bit jealous about that. Yes we are buds, but don't think it's a man crush or anything, even if it is, or isn't. So don't be P O'd. And are we having too much fun, and is that wrong?

Now as for the fish and the underwear, not sure what to say about that but I am sure you have points stored, is it enough I don't know. But I drink a lot of coffee, and I love chili dogs, and I really love that other thing, Billy Ross knows what I am talking about because I know that he loves it too. I am a heck raiser, I am on a tear. No I'm not, really, because I really am trying to get to Heaven, sincerely, and I hope all my buds are there too.

I would to, I don't see how we couldn't be. We place ahead of them every year at senior nationals and junior duals and Fargo. They are like skiing and rodeo, not that there is anything wrong with rodeo right badbo.

With so many references to Ark City, this could possibly be the post of the year...BRAVO.
