In fairness to Will, when it comes to dissing Kansas wrestling, he does it before, during and after the fact!

I don't believe that Will is ever intending to dis Kansas wrestling.
If he were, he would be saying that his son's state championships have no value.
Will usually just calls a spade a spade.

I dont know if im blind or just to dumb to see what you guys mean. At 220 Bobcat had three number 2 seeds as the top 3 seeds.
At Garden City 220 Top seed #1 Kid and retuning state champion.
2nd seed #2 kid returning state placer.
3rd seed #1 kid returning state runner up.
Some one tell me how the bobcat is tougher?

That 170lber from Bear Creek CO that was 27-0 and ranked 1 in Colorado and seeded maybe 5 was beaten 8-4 by a freshman from Newton named Jared Langley. My point is Kansas has some pretty good wrestlers too weather they are nationally ranked or not. Dillon Archer beat Brandon Tribble state runner up from Pine creek colorado 9-3 in finals.

The Bobcat is tougher because teams like Blue Springs and Collinsville are tougher than the out of state teams that were at Garden City. Face it, the competition this year at Garden City was levels below what it has been in the past.

For the past four years I have stated and supported with data that the Rocky Welton was the toughest Kansas High School tournament. People argued for Newton and The Bobcat. This year Garden City was not tougher than The Bobcat. Just a fact. No offense to anyone who won but not every tournament can be the toughest one, only one can. I don't believe there was a two time state champ in the gym (active HS wrestlers). Last year 140,145,152 were won by Moeder, Himmelman, Cokeley. All three D1 wrestlers and 10 state championships between them. I could list more data for each of the past three years if you need to see it. Just the facts.

In this stream a discussion regarding the status of Kansas wrestling versus surrounding states was created and I said this tournament would be an indicator of how we matched up against Colorado. Not totally but some data to work with. I admitted that Colorado was down.

Hats off to Greg Buckbee. He had his boys ready to go and they bested all comers. He told me before the tournament they were going to win and I predicted Pine Creek (I didn't know they were missing three starters). I told him he was right and congratulated him. He took a video of this and said he was going to post it on youtube.com. smile

I do everything I can to elevate the level of Kansas HS wrestling starting with kids on up. I am not out to ridicule but the facts are the facts. Why make someone feel falsely secure about their status if you know it is not the truth?

I would give up trying to post facts but then the nameless, faceless posters like nastyway wouldn't have anyone to take cheap shots at. Then there would be no fun on the forum.

No disrespect meant to any champions but the winner of the SMN Invitational is not normally going to be on the same level as a champion at Garden City, Newton, or the Bobcat.

(Butch, Cash is a great wrestler and I think 220 might have been as good at GC but as I stated, TOP TO BOTTOM. If Justin McPhail would have been there I would have said hands down GC was tougher!)

I have never tried to glorify a tournament just because SJA was there. That was a ridiculous statement. I will tell you that SJA wants to attend the toughest tournaments they can so we hit the Bobcat and Garden City just as Andale does. If you want to be the best you have to wrestle the best. Nasty go ahead and argue with that!

Quagmire, Blue Springs or Collinville never won 220 the Baldwin ks kid did. I specificly said 220 weight class never stated anything else, or any other weight class so now answer my question about 220 weight class at bobcat versus 220 weight class at garden city.

Bobcat was deeper than Garden City at 220. The Baldwin kid is a grinder I wouldn't have been surprised if he would have won 220 at Garden City as well.
My question to you is, did anyone specifically say 220 at Bobcat was tougher or did you just feel like bringing it up?
No body said any specific weight was tougher just that Bobcat as whole tournament was more competitive than Garden City this year. If you would like I can tell you which weights were tougher at which tournament IMO.

Quagmire thank you for the answer and im glad that you agree with me that the bobcat was deeper down on the list of rankings than the garden city was. As far as The baldwin winning or not time will tell because there will be head to head matches at state. You just stated as a whole it was tougher, i singled out the only weight my kid wrestles at because i now the kids at that weight from Mo., Ok., Co., and Ks. If I state that something is tougher than something else i will have my ducks in a row to back them. I just pointed out 220 because it makes the statement as a whole false. To make the statement that one tournament is better than another tounament you need to have the winner of every weight class from the first one wrestle in the second one and you will know for certain how it turns out. This never happened so all we have to go off of is rankings and head to head competition. Cash beat Colton so i believe we have head to head won. With that said Garden City was not tougher than the bobcat at 220 weight class? If you need any more information you can call me on my phone i am man enough to put my number down to back my facts.

Will, you know i dont post on here very often but when i do i have facts to back my posts. I am shocked that you singled out cash because i have never said anything to down grade you or your kids ever. i have backed you many times when people have bashed you for speeking your voice. Im sorry to burst your bubble but justin wont be at state this year he is letting his knee heal up so he can play football in college next year.I wished he was so people like you wouldnt be able to dwell on the past. Will, anyone can say if so and so was there this wouldnt of happened. He was not and it didnt happen. You of all people are big on the facts, i can't believe you stooped that low to bash cash unbelievable. We as parents and coaches should be looking to the future of these kids not back in the past.

Very Shocked

Overall, The Bobcat was tougher. At 220, GC was tougher in my opinion. Bobcat 126 was tougher than any weight at GC. GC 120 was dang tough. GC 132 was plenty deep as well as 113.

Congrats to Ark City! Greg has it going down there!

Butch,

Am I missing something? I cannot find anywhere that Will said anything negative about Cash! He complimented him. We all love Cash. He was a hero at the Junior Duals. All Will said was, if McPhail was there at GC, 220 would have been a tougher bracket. Nothing about him beating Cash or anything. I know that Will has always spoken highly of your kid.

You should re-think that one...

Not only that Newton faces them twice and beats them by 60 and 25. They are a fine team and do have some finalists but it's hard to see them ahead of Newton though they are high up there.

I believe the Chief simply did not have Luke Beans complete record on the 26th due to lack of results being posted. I can assure you from the 26th thru the 28th he recorded one decision and 4 pins. I did see them first hand.
