How does this qualifier work? Top 4? Wild cards?

It is totally dependent on the number of guys that are at the tourney. It hurts the regions total qualifiers if teams have opens. I'm not exactly sure of the breakdown but it will be pretty much top 4. I think the last one I went to had top three and 9 wildcards.

I'm not positive but Western Wyoming, NW Wyoming, Colby, Neosho, Pratt, Labette,...and I think NW Tech and Central Baptist out of Arkansas has a team.

I was told CCC qualified 9 and their 125 was named OW. Sorry I don't have any more details as I spent the day at the GWAC league tourney in Holcomb.

Here are the results that Labette's Athletic Trainer, Ben McKenzie posted on Facebook for the Cardinals:

"Labette won with 109, Northwest 83.5, Colby 69.5, Pratt, and Im not sure if these scores are correct or not. I think that is pretty close to correct.

25-3, 33-2, 41-1, 49-3, 57-1, 65-1, 74-1, 84-6, 97-1, hvy-1"

I would assume those are the placements for those weights for the Cards.

I assume the roster looked something like this for Labette since these were their last ranked wrestlers:
125 - Garrett Jones - 3rd
133 - Eric Hughes - 2nd
141 - Jordan Basks - 1st
149 - Jeromy Davenport - 3rd
157 - Devin Aguirre - 1st
165 - Ethan Orr - 1st
174 - Ray Hall - 1st
184 - John Hambleton - 6th
197 - Zach Anderson - 1st
285 - Trey Page 1st

I also would take an educated guess and say that Jeff Vesta of Neosho probably took 2nd at 125 if Jones took 3rd and Tamayo of Colby won the Outstanding Wrestler.

That's just a guess but with those being the #2, 3, and 4 wrestlers in the country at 125 it has a decent chance of going that way. However, the 5th ranked wrestler does go to Northwest College (Wyoming) so he might have snuk in there.

Ricky Bobby, You're right on with all that detective work. Tamayo finally beat Vesta...I think that's the first time. I'll be shocked if all three of those guy's (Jones included) don't kick butt at Nationals and become All-American's.

Trey Page stepped up big and knocked off #3 and #4 in the country today! Just the boost the cards needed heading into the national tourney. Hambleton got a wildcard so the Cards will have all ten at Nationals and be poised to TCOB!
