Remote weighins will be allowed but wrestlers all must do a skin check BEFORE 8:00am is what I was informed.

Our club did a remote weigh in and emailed results to both of the email addresses listed in this forum. One email address retuned with an auto-reply saying they do not accept spam. Hopefully someone will respond that they have received our results.

We did skin checks at our weigh in. Do the boys also need to check in tomorrow morning?

Thanks,

I try to usually not complain about tournaments as I understand it is tough to run them however this was not a good tournament today. Not enough table workers or referee's, way over capacity, very small wrestling surfaces and defiantly did not meet the safety requirements of a sanctioned meet for relief area with regards to the out of bounds. Matches were very slow because they were having to constantly stop and restart because of small surfaces. And for all that they still wanted $3 at the door. Best part was the concessions.

My son was wondering if they are going to finish the 10u 76A and 76B brackets.

The tournament ran fairly smooth for what it was but was way over capacity and the surfaces were way too small. Should have been limited to 400-500 kids.

10u 76a- Niegsch took 3rd and Bilby took 4th.
10u 76b- I think Jameson 1st, Cassida 2nd, Wathke 3rd and Erickson 4th

agreed very slow running tournament definitely a fire hazard with all the people clustered in a small space. I think fewer entries should be taken next year. Don't get so greedy you have a team tournament and a huge state tournament in the same weekend. geesh

I see where the limit was reached but am curious as to why entries were still taken. There were way too many people there and I couldn't see kids wrestle due to the amount of people standing throughout the entire tournament.

"A special thank you go's out to Tuff and Joe Knecht of the Paola wrestling club."

Absolutely Thank you Joe & Tuff. Some of you have no idea what they did to keep the tournament running smoothly along with several others at the tables - SIMPLY AMAZING! When the fire got hot - Cool Hand Joe and Terrible Tuff took the task at hand and kept the matches rolling.

We sent our entry in knowing there was going to be 700 plus kids in the tournement, we expected it to be crowded. It has been crowded every year, we still go. To get most of the best wrestlers out of district 1 together 3 weeks before sub-districts and to see the level of competition and the weights that everyone will be at, thats why we showed up. Ottawa has always put on a great tournament with some of the best wrestlers showing up there. Some brackets had 4-5 state placers and 5-6 qualifiers of the 20 kids, outstanding!!! As far as the statement about greed.. I did see where Ottawa Mat Masters made a donation to Braden Berner, the little boy with the tumor on his spine. I hope they sent our entire clubs entry fees to help this kid. I feel as that should show us all the level excellence that the Ottawa club trys to display in our wrestling community.

i will have to say that it was way crowded. there was some good wrestling. i took my older son because my younger son was wrestling on sunday anyways. i think they took extra entries not to be greedy but so those kids would have a chance to wrestle and not be turned away. not sure how many over 700 they had but if someone calls you and says hey we would like to sign up or my kid would have to sit out would you really want to turn away a kid or give him a chance. i do not know the circumstances but i wouldnt turn a kid away either. i would look for a different place to have it if its that over crowded in the future. not sure where would be a better place in ottawa but if its like that year after year something has to change.
