From themat.com freestyle rules 2012

Article 29 - End of the bout (Read the Bold print at the bottom please)

The bout ends either when a fall, a disqualification by injury of one of the opponents is declared, or at the end of the regular time. A period ends either by technical superiority (6 points difference), or after the execution of a “grand amplitude” 5-point hold whatsoever the score,or after the execution of two 3-point holds whatsoever the score, or in case of an ordered hold in freestyle if the wrestler wins 1 point or more before 30 seconds, or upon expiration of the regular time, signalled by the sound of the
gong and the referee’s whistle.

When a wrestler executes a 5-point hold within the regular time, the referee must wait for the possible fall. If his opponent overcomes, the referee must whistle immediately and declare the winner of the period or the match.

The second 3-point hold may be followed by an immediate counter-attack which puts opponent in a danger position, the action may end up in a fall.

I was doing some brushing up on the rules and I always thought once a wrestler hit the second 3 point move it was automatically whistled dead. Now, I believe the other wrestler has a reaction time of probably a few seconds to secure a fall? But if wrestler A hits a five point move, wrestler B has no reaction time to secure a fall? Makes sense to me.

Is this correct?

Feel free to chime in with questions and interpretations as it helps us all.

on the 5 point move, after awarded, nothing matters. The bout is continued only if the wrestler scoring the 5 point move has his opponent in danger. Once danger criteria is past in any way, the bout is over.

On the second three point move, if the defensive wrestler rolls through and puts the offensive wrestler in danger, he has a chance for a fall. If he does not score a fall, no points are awarded and the original offensive wrestler is declared the winner of the period. No time limit other than the end of the period to score the fall.

That is how I interpeted it anyway!
