I'm not sure you understand the point I am making. My original statement merely explains the rationale that the KSHSAA uses to form the classifications. I don't believe I ever said 6A teams are larger, I actually acknowledged the fact that 4A may have some teams with better numbers.

Right or not, the state can't use participation numbers to classify. The numbers are too fluid. I would be interested to see the participation numbers at 6A school vs 4A schools, just for kicks. I am sure there are lots of 4A schools that have great numbers.

I have no idea what the participation numbers for wrestling in each class is. I assume you have that information?

The only reason on the Wrestling board that I have ever heard about the 32 32 64 is the argument about qualifing for State based on 16 man brackets to 8 man Brackets. However I don't remember anyone complaining that a small school could not compete for a team title in Wrestling.

What I meant was that 5A and 6A representatives to the KSHSAA Board of Directors will never vote to combine 5A ands 6A. Why should they. They are not affected by the 8 VS 16 man brackets in wrestling. To them the current system is fair!

I think Matt Jones hit the nail squarely on the head. Surely the total enrollment in 32 6A schools exceeds the total enrollment in 4A. Maybe so even in 5A. Its the number of students that count, not the number of wrestlers. Ir-relevant that some small schools may come with a full roster while a bigger school comes with a number of open slots!
