Finals were great, Purple Pool teams won every finals matchup. Yeah, it was unfair.

Wow, can you say Crystal Ball.
All there is for me to say is looks like the pools were perfectly set, my apologies and congratulations to Coach Shelton and the Valley Center Wrestlers.

I also apologize to Coach Shelton and the Hornet family for making an inappropriate comment on another thread. You guys have obviously put some hard work in and started the season with a bang. Your efforts have my attention!

There is one mistake that I know of in the Emporia v Andover Central dual. Dakota Rodd pinned Dillard of Emporia at 106. It shows the opposite incorrectly.

For two years now this event certainly appeared to be not evenly distributed. I think it is worth mentioning that when you put all of the tough dogs into the same pool they beat each other up. How many kids had to miss there final match of the day? I like the idea of lots of matches but I would like to see the pools distributed based on ALL CLASS rankings or even by a vote of the participating coaches. There isn't much transparency to the process at this point in time. Just my opinion. Perceptions can be more powerful than reality...

The reality is that the Gold pool won three of the four final duals. I don't think there was considerable attrition through out the day. On the first weekend of December those teams were better. Don't think anybody has all their wrestlers in the right spot. I am sure things will change throughout the year.
Guess we will get a better feel for that over the next couple of weeks. Valley has duals with Goddard this week and Andover Central next week. Both of those should be good matchups. VC goes to Colby this weekend. I maybe wrong, but I don't think Shelton has anything to do with the pools there.

The whining on these boards is officially at an all time high. It is ok to wrestle more than 1 tough match in a day. Doesn't hurt anybody.

At a quick glance. Looked like AC and Goddard was the only close dual in the Gold Pool. Doesn't seem like they were back and forth or beating each other up like people may think.

Seeding off the Un-Official All Class Rankings do not make sense in a dual tournament. The Rankings are based off individual tournament predictions. Un-official All Class rankings were obviously way off as Valley Center was un-officially under ranked.

It shouldn't matter what team was in what pool, the best team won, because the best team beat every team they faced under any circumstance. It shouldn't matter if you are in a weak pool because you are going to end up wrestling the best team in the "stacked" pool if you keep winning.

Valley Center is at the Colby Dual Tournament this week. Will there be complaining that no Colorado teams are in their pool, yet the 2 other pools have 2 each? Wonder if a good showing there will negate criticism? If someone can pull up their pool, what are your predictions for them in it?

I certainly wouldn't say the whining is at an all time high or even anywhere close. And it is certainly not official. It is actually just getting started and is not even close to some type of climax which will undoubtedly culminate at the end of the season with the yearly complaining about the losing records at state and the unfair 4A/3A regional brackets, etc., etc. People make too big of a deal over the "whining" anyway. Its all just fun and kicks and grins, etc. anyway except for when some people get too serious and start whining about the "whining".

Additionally, the "Un-official" All Class rankings comment is junk because the All-Class rankings are the most accurate thing we have, guarantee that and they are very accurate based on what has transpired. Just because VC was not previously ranked in the top 10 does not mean they are not valid or "way off" as stated. The All-Class team rankings as you know are based on how they would be predicted to finish at state according to number of individual placers. Maybe it just says that VC had some individual "sleepers" that were not factored at the time. No surprise there, they usually do. Although VC is always good, we will see how good they really are as the season progresses.

But for now, once again, congratulations to Shelton and the VC wrestlers for a great victory!

Seeding never matters for the clear #1's. It's the 2's and 3's it matters for.
