Baseball, football, hockey, basketball, golf, tennis stars.....are great athletes, but have millions of dollars to show for it. Wrestling Olympians are regular people with regular jobs and incomes. The Summer Games was their one moment to be in that spotlight and demonstrate their talents and showcase our sport.
They balance a real job and families while still trying to train to be a world class elite athlete, an Olympic champion. It is not for money or fame, wrestling will most likely earn them neither. It is for their own glory, pride, and self-fulfillment of a personal goal.
