We will be seperating wrestlers from the same club. There is no credible way to seed wrestlers at this age. We will rely on the cream rising to the top and the others battling for the remainder of the medals. Thanks!

I don't have any kids in this age group anymore. You can at least get the kids at the top of the age group some seeding based on any experience from last year's tournament at Ottawa. Or even qualified for last years tournament at 8U, any national placing or placing in some of the bigger tournaments this year like Salina, Maize, Goddard. This is like telling the HS boys show up to regionals and it's a blind draw and let's see if the cream rises to the top. You can get at least 6-8 kids seeded. Your the man Mr. Cokeley. You can get it done.

I understand the common perception that 6 year olds dont know how to wrestle yet but i know for a fact there are several that can. There are going to be a few kids that are decent wrestlers and usually place in the top three that are going to go home without a medal.

I agree w/ pappy, there are some very good 6u kids and I think seeds would help the competition and have the best matches for the place matches. I'm not suggesting any major seeding meetings or anything, but like packer mentioned use Salina ToC and Maize and big tournaments like that to get some sort of seeding

I agree there should be some type of seeding, however I wouldn't want the nightmare of trying to do it for this event!!

My question and maybe part of the solution is why not dump the High School and add the 6 year old to the Championship series? The High school class makes up less than 10% of the membership and oh yeah they have their own tournament that is regarded much higher than winning a state title in "Kids".

Of course this would create a nightmare for bracketing at Subs but I believe it could be done with some of the smart people we have out there already running large tournaments.

Just curious.

With all age groups in the Kids' division, the goal should be to make sure that they love the sport and want to compete in high school. I have seen a lot of wrestlers fail to make this goal and that is sad. I have thoroughly enjoyed watching young wrestlers grow up and become some of the best in the state in high school. I think all of you will too as long as they get there. As far as seeding for a U6 tournament, I really don't believe it is that important. As Will stated, the cream should rise to the top.
