Yep. Butler did everything he could. The MO kid should have got DQ'd for repeated shots to Butler's face and then for just laying on the mat and clamming up so as to stay off his buck. They called him for stalling at least twice. They could have called him for stalling at least 6 times. Awesome try Mr. Butler! Good job keeping your cool as the refs let you get right jab, left jab, right jab, etc while on your feet -- over and over again . . .

I'm sure you guys were equally critical of Joe Payne from Paola against Dom Bradley in '07 when he stalled out the entire match as well, weren't you?

You bet. I hate stalling. I do not care who it is coming from. It is a 'killer' for our sport. Impossible to build a larger fan-base with stuff like that going on.

Excellent point.

And to work on his boxing skills... Right jab. Left jab. Right/left/right/left etc . . .

we lost because some of our wrestlers were satisfied with just a win.

I don't recall too many people on this message board complaining about it after his (Payne's) display. Everyone was reveling in the team win. It's funny how it goes one way.

You made your point fudge. I'm sure people in misery were complaining about Payne when he stalled to get the win for Kansas in 07 just like people are complaining about the Missouri kid this year. 2 differences I'd like to point out.
1. Payne wasn't throwing punches at Dom.
2. Butler didn't taunt the Misery crowd after the match like Dom did to KS.

Payne couldn't throw any punches, he was too busy running.

Butlet did throw his headgear and act like a child afterwards. BTW, those are love-taps compared to what he'll get in college.

Butler did his job, spotlight always on the last match. Good job Nathan, all Kansas wrestlers should have wrestled with the enthusiasm you had. For some just winning is enough. IMO this situation was primarily a team sport, and all wrestlers should have treated it as such.

Like the MO heavyweight was not 'busy running' tonight himself?!

Butler did NOT "act like a child afterwards". Was he frustrated? H*ll ya!!! Who would not have been if they had be in his shoes?

And just as he handled the so-called 'love-taps' tonight with dignity and class . . . I imagine he will do the same thing at the next level.

One can never overemphasize the importance of bonus points! And at the same time the importance of not allowing bonus points.

Kinda wish Guillen and Daniels woulda wrestled. Puckett and Eads would've been a good match.

Eads is tough only if he gets his wizzer tilt on you. I'm interested to see if he repeats his success this summer at Fargo. He almost won a freestyle national championship with just the wizzer tilt.
