Brackets should be released around 10:00 AM tomorrow. What is funny about the people running is that some only look at Subs and don't look at District. Things will be even harder for some there than if they would have just stayed put and battled it out.

I am not saying that I totally agree or disagree that all kids that move weights are avoiding competition. The facts are that there are many reasons that kids move weights. Some move to avoid competition, some move due to growth spurts, some move to coaches/administrators making typing error (heck I put one of our kids in at 105 today, he changed weights all the way to 145 because of the competition! Just kidding, I wrote the wrong weight.) other kids drop from their middle school weights because they don't want to drop 5-10 pounds for middle school matches but want to get to their "fighting" weight for the state series and more importantly middle school duals. These are just some reasons but again, they are operating within the rules.
As far as the early viewing of registered wrestlers....I have not noticed a big increase in kids changing weights since we have them open to see vice a few years ago when you couldn't see them. The numbers seem about the same to me.
Nobody talks about this but remember we give team trophies at state. Teams and kids may have kids move so they can qualify more kids to state and increase their chances at placing high as a team. This happens all the time at high school and college. If you don't like that idea or practice then don't give out team awards.

They are hanging with those 14U kids who placed at HS state. Roaches... Same thing Beeson. You are looking very hypocritical now.

I don't see it that way at all. The 14 are wrestling their age group, no running, no hiding, just wrestling their age group.

The Roaches are picking a weight and then saying oh crap, I don't want to wrestle the competition, RUN RUN RUN.

A HS wrestler is a HS wrestler. They see the competition and run, run, run down to 14U to wrestle KIDS. You are being a hypocrit. Both things are allowed by the rules today. No advantage is gained by changing weights but there is a clear and distinct advantage you get from being a HS wrestler. Fact, no debate.

Every single coach I have ever talked to will try to get there kids to place at state.Change a weight.Wrestle 14 and under, when they have placed in HS.This is put out by coaches and dads/moms.
Not sure where you come up with it will be any better to move up or down. In my sons case we would have been 2nd or 3rd at 115.We have moved to 110 we will be 2nd or 3rd there also. Not sure where you see the big difrance.

I can tell you this.Takes a small man to call kids names.

Why don't we just not release the information until after the seeding meeting. It worked well for years. If you want to talk about hurting the sport? Teaching the kids to run from one another instead of meeting their competition head on, that is the real evil. Those that don't believe this is going on are either naive or just kidding themselves. Those who make changes for real reasons of course I'm not talking to you. But the rest of you Beeson is right.... Cockroaches

Our club's high school 120 pounder is excited now that he isn't the only kid in his sub now. He was disappointed when I told him Friday that he might not have a match at subs.

I for one am glad the rule to change is there, my kid grew the past two weeks and I don't feel it would benefit to keep him at the lower weight. His chances of qualifying or making it to state are probably not better by going up, but he is in a tough weight either way so that was not the motivation. I also gave him the option of staying down and working the weight off and he chose to go up. Keep the rule, and whether you change when names are released or not, you won't change people trying to run, there just won't be as much.

I didn't know until Friday night that they could move from one bracket to another. I had always been told that what we register the boys at is where they will have to wrestle at.

My boy isn't the greatest wrestler, but he doesn't give up and he's had some tough competition all year which has only made him work harder. Can't wait to see how this turns out.
