Not exactly, as Coach Church stated the Head Coach and Sr. wrestler are voted on by the member coaches in each class.
The other awards are nominated by the public and voted on by the KWCA board. There is not a specific set criteria for each award, but the individual's body of work is generally very compelling. Often there are numerous worthy individuals that we are forced to make difficult decisions between. A set criteria would be very difficult given the diversity of awards and also the wide range in which people contribute to this great sport in Kansas.
Again, we are always looking to recognize worthy individuals. If anyone has a nomination for next season, the meeting is the weekend after High School state, so submit your nominations at that time to any of the KWCA board members. We are also always looking to expand our membership base, if you would like to join the KWCA and support these awards, the SR. Classic dual, as well as the fall convention, as well as working to make our sport in Kansas stronger that would be great. Membership info is available at the KWCA website!
