Congratulations to Matt Baker, Shawnee Mission East class of 2008, who wins NCAA D-II national title at 197.
Matt Baker did not start wrestling until high school and never won a high school state title. Matt has a lot of athletic talent but over his early years he had to compete against his peers who often had years of wrestling experience over him. His perseverance, love of wrestling and hard work paid off.
Matt will always be an example for our young Kansas youth and high school wrestlers who also are willing to work hard and go for their wrestling dreams against the odds.
