just find out who is in charge of the wrestling club and get involved..sometimes...the kid's teams get neglected and have parents...who don't always understand the sport trying to take charge...more people are needed with knowledge of wrestling and can deal with crazy parents.

You will have to have a USA Wrestling Card as well as be at least copper certified by going to one of the coaches meetings. It would be best for you to talk to your kids club president before you just go get certified.

What does it take? Everything Jeremy just said, and a lot of patience. I always encourage young wrestlers completing thier high school careers to stay involved in the sport, its the only way to keep the great Kansas wrestling going!

I would like to see Kansas Kids grant a one year waiver to hs seniors from having to obtain a bronze card. Sometimes following the completion of their senior season these kids decide they would like to help out and there are no bronze clinics to attend. How about a waiver for seniors completing their hs eligibility if an application is received accompanied by a letter of recommendation by either their coach or AD? We need young coaches getting involved and this would serve to encourage that. They of course would still need the coaches card for insurance purposes.

I went to a class in the middle of my senior year so if kids even think they might want to do that then they should just get it early, even if they dont use it, i would suggest it, its a lot of fun

Yeah no joke, there is no rule saying you can't go to a clinic at any time during your high school career. They are usually on saturday's and there is always one at the beginning of the season before any high school teams go to tournaments. So you don't need a waiver. I only wish I would have had my card my first year of coaching about a month before I got it, cuase I was showing one of my kids a move and lost my focus for a few seconds, he ended up kicking me right above my right eye and I had to get 20 stiches which came out of my own pocket. You can still coach without your card. But you'll need it at the bigger kids tournaments and all qualifying and state tournaments. Any tournament director can ask you to show your card and refuse to let you coach if you don't have it but most won't do that. And your not covered under insurance if you don't
