Hey Gorilla, I saw them both and coached against them both and they were both very good. I just don't see any real point to denigrating Hernandez when it is obvious he was a great talent in his own right. I don't know what you have against him, I don't know him or Biles except coaching against both of them and have no axe to grind but I just think it is rediculous to try and find some reason to still find a competition between the two or try to make is sound like Hernandez wasn't a great high school wrestler. It is obvious to everyone that ever tried to figure out a way to beat him that he was. It sounds petty to try to make up some reason why he shouldn't be.

I agree that this really is a moot point because some years some classes will have more tough teams than others. That having been said I will state an opinion and let me point out that is all it is. 6A is the weakest with about 3-4 good teams. The guy that said you can't mention 321A and 6A in the same breath is an idiot. As for 4A being the toughest that could be but Goodland finished 2nd at 4A state but 5th in their league tourny behind Hoxie,St. Francis,Oberlin (321A)and Colby (4A). I am not sure what all this says about classes but on any given day anyone can beat someone else and thats just the way it is.

So why exactly is 5A so weak? and if 5A is so weak, then whats the best class? I would like chilydog to give me examples, instead of just saying its weak

Hovepen-

hey bob...ramirez was in the good old zebra outfit for the iowa-minnesota dual at the beginning of the season...I also ran into him at the CMSU duals in Warrensburg...I believe he's been doing more Big 10 and Pac 10 wrestling this year.

For the record, I wrestled Hernandez 4 times between the ages of 9 and 18, and he won all 4 matches. If anyone wants to question anything about that, please feel free to contact me.

Just a little note for Hovpen. This fight has gone long enought. Hoxie is the best team this year. I'm not saying they will be the best one next year or the year after that. But it is quite amazing that under Coach Baker that the Indians have won 7 of their 10 titles. For what is a past time in some towns, is a tradition in ours. Oh and one more thing, we do have someone who is another 3 time state champ. He goes by the name of Mat Gilliland. His freshman year beat J.B. Harding from Norton, soph. year he beat Cody Lambotte, and this year he beat Brady Lamar (sp) in the finals. All are great wrestlers. And hopefully he will be our first 4 timer!

Matt had me pinned out of bounds---where a boy in the state finals wants to be pinned if he is going to be pinned. (thank the Lord for long shoulder blades)

He did hurt his ankle on a switch.

He did return for a rematch.

He was a good wrestler.

Don't know the refs

Have the tapes

Chris Hernandez

(I should of stayed at 171 and we both would have been state champs)

Send me a 12 pack Biles

A Class is only as tough at the individuals that compete in it Here are few 5A for all Time:

Eddie Borror Justin Ware Roy Oeser
Teddy Nelson Les Miller Neil Keller
Kelly Brewster Vince Walker Terry Anstine
Hoover Darren Walker Eric Aiken
Gonze Medina Jeremy Hernandez
Myron Roderick Chris Hernandez Scott Goodale
Jim Ramirez Todd Layton Bo Mayness
Temore Terry John Cook Devin Bahm
Brooks Travis David Ray Chad Beeson

There will always be years where one class will shine over the rest. But when you look generationally (50's 60's 70's 80's 90's PRESENT)
you have to take your hat off to 5A. Wrestler for wrestler you won't comprise a tougher team tournament or dual.

KalebH-

Are you Chris Hernandez or Chris Arndt? because I know you aren't both...

Long shoulder blades? Don't you mean short shoulder blades?

By the way, if you want a free 12 pack, you'll have to beat me a 5th time.
