Kansas Wrestling Forums General Discussion High School State Placer History

Is there a history of State Placers in Kansas? I was looking through some old boxes that Coach Harper brought to me here in Tribune, KS, and found the State Books from around 1975-1990. Every bracket is filled out. Obviously this is just the small school State tournaments, but if there is not list I would compile what I have and maybe somebody else around the state can fill in others. I just wanted to check before compiling the placers into a list so that I did not do something that was already done.

I used to have a book that went back to the mid 1900s, I believe. It was basically photocopies of news clippings from State Wrestling Tournaments.

I ordered it from a guy in Salina, who was putting them together & selling them.

I loaned the book to a Wichita-area coach who said he was compiling state results for his school, and I haven't seen it since, and I can't recall who it was, his name...???? Hoping someday he comes across it & gets it back to me.

It would have this info in it.

I have a copy of that book, it was compiled by Rufus Janzen from Salina. If I can get to a copy center I can get a copy out, or I may try to digitize it, although that would be a large undertaking.
