Just a reminder that the Metro Classic Dual will be held tomorrow night at KCKCC, 6:30 in the field house on the north side of the campus off Parallel. You can still buy discounted tickets. See those outlets and more at Metro Classic kcmetroclassic.com.

It's going to be a great dual, with 18 current and former state champions on stage. Those of you that might not have ever attended before should come out and give it a look, it is one of the best high school wrestling events of it's kind in the country and well worth the $10. Plus you get a chance to contribute to the scholarship of a wrestler. You can't beat that. Hope to see you all there.

There were some good matches and there was an incredible mismatch at 152. Somehow a 160lb state champ, nationally ranked wrestler, was matched up against a wrestler who alpha weighed at 138. Brilliant match up. We could make 160lb SC wrestle Dustin Williams, a 170lb 3X SC. It was just sad and weird.

To me, give the allowance but DO NOT let wrestlers move DOWN a weight class. If you want to move up a wt class to create a match up then SUPER.

Two multi x SC hooked up at 145 even though they both wrestled 152 all season. Leeth 12-4 over Lambotte. Lewis WBF over Tujague. Seaton and Wilson winners at 113 and 113. Boose lost a major at 120. Reese Cokeley lost 3-8 to John Erneste. Noah Teaney over Sawyer Like. Michael Olsen injured his ankle and inj defaulted to Blake Clevenger... Someone else can hit the upper weights.

Leeth wrestled 145 at Ironman, and KC Stampede, so he made the weight this year and wrestled 152 at Districts and state to help the team as Andrew Borden at 145 took third or Kearney. In college I would guess he is a 141 or 149 pounder.

I know this but he did wrestle 152 a majority of the year. Taegen wrestled 152 all year. The seven pound allowance is supposed to make it comfortable for the kids to make weight not to move down weight classes. Either the allowance it too big or the rule should be that you cannot move down from the weight you wrestled in the HS state tournament.

Limiting movement in weight may inhibit super matches though in coming years, so I would be more in favor of the reduced weight allowance, and you are correct about where he wrestled the majority of the year.

Take away the allowance. No reason to have 7 pounds.

Dustin Williams was his usual self. McKinnis electrified the crowd with a fall. Tillman won 10-4. Weidel lost by decision. Galvan launched a big lat drop in the first period, but was unable to get the fall. The Missouri kid turned the tide and won a decision. Justin Scott used a nice shot in the first period to take down a highly ranked opponent.

Looks like another one of those loopholes in the bylaws...never mind the intention of the rule.

Will, This was the point I was making before the event. Glad you agree with me now.

Did Justin Scott win, or did he just get the takedown and the match was over?

You HAVE to give some allowance or no one will wrestle. You get 3 pounds on the second day of state so I think that would have to be the minimum. I don't mind the allowance if you regulate the movement. I think it should be what you wrestled at state or one up.

That was what I said before but you pooh paahhed it and said something like, "we want the committee get the best match up possible. You cant have if both ways especially since one of the match ups didnt turn out the way you wanted.
