When theres no head to head the next criteria is common opponents. Lautt has a win over Xanders. Xanders has a win over Wilson. Therefore Lautt should be ranked ahead of Xanders and Wilson.

rmom, look at the strength in state tournaments. Everyone knows 5a was the toughest state tournament this year. 5a kids were beating kids from 321a, 4a, and 6a all year long. My brother has earned his ranking. Deshazer was the the only kansas kid he lost too all year. Wilson also spent a majority of the year at 132. The runner up finish is a nice accomplishment but who has he beat that is ranked ahead of him at 138?

And you really love those 5A kids huh, you hardly ranked any 4A as number one, leaves a lot for conversation there.

Please name some of those 4A kids you think should be number 1 overall and make a case for them. Objective data has always been welcome. It is NOT personal, trust me.

This changes from year to year. One class is always more dominant than the others. This year it was 5A. There aren't always going to be head-to-head match ups. This is no different than college football when teams have not played each other. You have to evaluate based on the competition they wrestled. In KS a state finalist doesn't even insure that he is in the top 2 of 4A. If the Champion beats two guys on the other side there is a chance that the 2nd placer finisher didn't even beat the 3rd and 4th place guys and possibly even the fifth! I agree with Kit that he had a great state tournament but that doesn't automatically mean anything. Ranking is really tough without head-to-head match ups. Find someone he beat that beat the guys above him and you have a case. Good job Jake.

Rieschick of Holton lost to Xanders at Newton in overtime during season. Not that it means anything now but Rieschick beat Wilson in the Wichita finals. So if Wilson is going to be ranked then Rieschick should be ahead of him but i'm sure there are other kids that are ahead of them... Penka of Mulvane beat Rieshcick, Wilson beat Penka, and Rieschick beat wilson im sure if we went through the whole season again the whole bracket might change for state.

To Start off. IN NO WAY IS THIS AN ATTACK ON CHIEF's RANKINGS!!!

I know Chief can only rank wrestlers from the information he has, and the information that is provided to him throughout the year. But after looking at the numbers of ranked wrestlers from each division. I feel 321a did not get much love in these rankings. I find it hard to believe that 321a only has 15 ranked wrestlers out of 140 spots. I was at the 321a state tournament, and there are some very good wrestlers in 321a.

321a 15 ranked wreslters
4a 44 ranked wrestlers
5a 43 ranked wrestlers
6a 38 ranked wreslters

6A - 6
321A - 5
4A - 5

Champions:

5A - 7
321A - 3
6A - 3
4A - 1

Like I said Eric. In no way am I attacking your rankings. You can only rank wrestlers with the information you have. The lack of ranked wrestlers in 321a could be from not much exposure in big tournaments. Coaches and/or parents not reporting results. Tournament results not being posted, etc... I follow your rankings all year, and just like many people I have disagreements with some, but in the end your rankings are very well done. My question would be how do get more exposure for the small 321a schools that dont get to the big tournaments.

On a side note. Great tournament at RMN.

Micah Felton from JC should be in the mix some where at 170 pounds.

I agree. Its just my gut that tells me if the top sixteen wrestled in a bracket Felton would place in the 5-8 range. Chief has to look at the data & I think that's what bumped him out. He has to be 11 or 12.

From the last rankings at 170:

9. Carter Hall - SH - 11 - 5A - 30-6

I was told by a good source that Micah beat Hall 14-0! Chief must be busy. He'll probably get to it later.
