Lee's Summit did an exceptional job at their Jan., 10, 2015 event of keeping everyone without a coaches wristband (only obtainable by presenting a USA Wrestling Membership ID, Coaches Card and Photo ID at the gate) away from the mats.
It was communicated to all clubs 3 days prior that this would be strictly enforced and 99% of folks abided by the rule.
There will always be the handful of folks who believe that rules do not apply to them, and those folks were certainly in attendance at this event as well. One father, who can no longer proudly wear the bright yellow of a certain KS club affiliation, decided to make a complete ass (no truer description) of himself by creating a huge scene in front of everyone at mat 9.
However, there were far more parents, grandparents, fans who complimented the enforcers and were appreciative of being able to sit on a bleacher and view all of action from their paid for seat.
Table workers, officials, and coaches were much more easily able to perform their duties without the constant distraction, interference and harrassment from people who not only have no business being matside, but would not be able to do same thing in any other sport.
This truly needs to be the norm and not the exception in the sport of kids wrestling.
