Hays wasn't a fizzle. Andover Central went. The numbers were small - no doubt about it. But at 215 my son got 5 matches. All against good kids. Manhattan, Labette County, Halstead, KC Schalagle, etc... We couldn't ask for better than that. Everyone on our team seemed to enjoy it. Must weights got between 3 and 4 matches. It was well run and we were on the road home by 4:00 p.m.. In addition the team had good practices leading up to the tournament. No lull because of no events. The kids came back after Christmas in shape knowing they had this tournament. Hopefully next year more teams will make the commitment to go. It would be a shame to waste this oppurtunity. KSHSAA rules are strict enough. We have an oppurtunity for a great event. All it needs are more wrestlers. I would like to see Andover Central come back next year.
