The Salina Kids Wrestling Club would like to invite you all to the Bicentennial Center on Saturday, January 31st for the Tournament of Champions.

Tournament registration will be done through Trackwrestling. You can register directly at the link below. The entry deadline for the tournament is Saturday, January 24th at 8:00 p.m. Payment is due at the time of registration.

http://www.trackwrestling.com/opentournaments/VerifyPassword.jsp?tournamentId=164348009

We will be having weigh-ins at the Bicentennial Center in Salina from 6:30-8:30 p.m. on Friday night January 30th and from 6:00-7:00 am Saturday morning of the tournament. As in years past, we will be giving the 0.9 weight allowance at weigh-ins. For instance, if your wrestler is wrestling 58 pound weight class, as long as he weighs 58.9 he has made weight for the tournament.

I also want to make a point to bring up that for wrestlers with a skin condition requiring a silhouette form to make sure to have a doctors letterhead, prescription pad, etc. attached to the form. This is a requirement of the Kansas Kids Bylaws and will be enforced at weigh-in. There has been some confusion with parents in the past during weigh-ins as to this requirement.

If you have any questions, contact Rich Zimmerman at rich.zimmerman@salinawrestling.com or (785) 823-3987.

Make weight... your giving .9# correct?
Show up, don't be more than a pound over or you'll go home.

Comp. is well worth it. Been last few years. See you next weekend!

Not sure how they have managed it in recent years, but the old answer would have been no. They used to lock it down pretty good and nothing made it in.

This Tournament Gets and A-. It would have been an A+ for sure. But they started getting GREEDY. The tournament itself was great. The Competition was great. Tons of kids from tons of places. Everything Ran really smooth. The refs did a fairly competent job. BUT THEY GOT GREEDY, AND WHERE REDICULOUS ABOUT THE FOOD. THEY WOULDN'T LET YOU BRING FOOD INTO A TOURNAMENT THAT WAS FROM 7 AM TO APPROX. 8PM. AND THAT ITSELF IS UNDERSTANDABLE. BUT IF YOU BOUGHT A DRINK OF FOOD YOU COULDN'T BRING IT INTO THE AREA RIGHT OUTSIDE OF THE GATE. IT WAS CRAZY. THEN THE WORST PART OF ALL WAS. THERE WERE KIDS THATS PARENTS WENT TO GET THEM SOME LUNCH AND BROUGHT IT BACK TO THEM, WELL SINCE THEY COULD NOT BRING THE FOOD INSIDE. YOU WOULD THINK THEY COULD EAT IT IN THAT LITTLE COMMONS AREA RIGHT OUTSIDE OF THE GATE AND INSIDE THE DOORS, BUT NO. THEY MADE THESE KIDS GO OUTSIDE IN THE FREEZING RAIN AND COMBO SNOW IN FREEZING WEATHER TO EAT THEIR LUNCH. I THOUGHT THAT WAS EXTREMELY GREEDY AND HARDCORE. SO IF KIDS GET COLDS, FLUS OR NUMONEA THIS WEEK. PLEASE LET THE TOURNAMENT OF CHAMPIONS KNOW THAT THIS IS A RIDICULOUS POLICY. MOST ALL OF THESE PEOPLE HAVE DROVE HUNDREDS OF MILES TO COME AND ENJOY ONE OF THE BEST TOURNAMENTS IN THE MIDWEST. AND WE ARE MIDWESTERN FOLKS. WE DO NOT LIKE GREEDY ISSUES LIKE THIS. IT COULD BE AN EASY WAY TO MAKE THIS GREAT AMAZING EVENT TURN INTO SOMETHING THAT NOBODY WANTS IT TO BE. SO NEXT YEAR PLEASE ALLOW FOOD BACK INTO THE COMMONS AREA RIGHT OUTSIDE OF THE GATES. NOT INTO THE TOURNAMENT ITSELF BUT JUST INSIDE THE DOORS AND OUT SIDE THE GATES.

THANK YOU

This is not the Salina kids wrestling clubs fault. They didn't get greedy, it's the bicentennial center who makes these rules. This must be your first year coming to this. As this is how it has always been at Salina. Rich and Bobby did another fabulous job with great competition. We will be back next year along with approximately 1400 wrestlers.
