As the 23rd Annual event approaches, March 10th at 6:30 pm, it is time to get a bit of discussion rolling!

Stick to the weight classes and stop all the monkeying around:

ie Johnny won state at 160 but he could go to 152 with a 7 lb allowance, so lets enter him in the classic as a 152.

I for one never liked the weight rules due to it puts the MO wrestlers at a disadvantage. It should be you wrestle your state weight plus 7 pounds. Expanding the mileage perimeters seems to be another issue with some fans but in MO, unless it's extended all the way to Saint Louis, it's not going to make a difference.

MO has more people, more high schools, and thus more wrestlers in KC area, so the mileage differential. We have this discussion every year, and the rule is there for a reason. The weight issue is a different animal....

From the results of the past several years, I would say the weight monkey stuff hasn't helped Kansas! But we agree - state weight plus seven.

... what about their certified weight plus 7? A few wrestlers for a few different reasons, compete at State at pretty close to their natural weight!

... and I do think the limit on miles is, 75 in Kansas and 50 in Missouri!

The problem with certified weight is it would cause more debate and at the end of the day, it wouldn't really be a change. Some wrestlers may have a lower certified weight by had zero intentions of wrestling that weight and in other cases, a wrestler may have wrestled the state weight for the team.

State weight would be clean and easy.

... is debate bad? :-)

I know at the NHSCA Sr. Nationals they use certified weight. This has been the rule for the Metro for years ... and also, the debate for years!!

(jhayes, are they chatting in MO about this yet?)

I just have one request...Colston Diblasi vs Isaac Dulgsrian. Both 170 for state. Both nationally ranked I believe. Please make that happen.
