What do these guys wrestle each other? 10 times a year?

Can't speak for everyone but we see very few of these teams more than twice.

Several again at league, several at Newton, and a few more at Regionals but only one of these from our league again at regionals.

We travel as well in state, but glad to have a close one on the schedule; one of the few that actually got an entire event completed in this area this weekend due to weather!

I think one of the state's counties has 20 of the 5A and 6A schools.
The only school I believe not represented in some fashion was Mill Valley this year.
If the coaches and administrators were only concerned with less than 1 percent of the state's wrestlers - then there would be no need for conference, regionals and state tournaments.

I think the record is 6! I do agree. It is way too easy for the local AD's to sign up for the same tournaments year in and year out. With the Sunflower and EK Leagues hosting tournaments later in the year it is way too much of the same faces. The tournament has not evolved and it really is the Blue Valley Invitational as they are the only school that financially benefits from the event. Their facilities are inadequate and the JoCo coaches have taken the approach of leaving kids at home thus vacating many of the weight classes.

This tournament could be held as the first event of the year and it would be a great warm up to the season. This suggestion resonates with many coaches but falls on deaf ears in Stanley. It has gotten so bad there has been some political bullying to get teams to participate. They should read the book "Who Moved My Cheese" and maybe they will get it.

As far as leagues and wrestling are concerned?! S T U P I D!! You see basically the same teams two weeks in a row.

And lastly... The dumbest rule of all...The 500 mile limit. What is the purpose?? A band can go to England and they call it a "field trip" but if you want to compete athletically the brilliant administrators and KSHSAA Nazis have blocked any way of even getting an exemption. So this rule allows a school to be able to travel 900 miles to the west but another cannot go 569 miles to the east. If that makes sense to you then don't ever read another one of my posts because it asinine! To be honest, there is so much double talk and secret added clarifications in the handbook that I am not even sure those who work at KSHSAA have a clue what you can and can't do so Gary just says NO to everything.

Lastly, how does the winter calendar fit your taste? We can practice this week but not compete next weekend. Then we can't practice but can compete the following weekend. D U M B!!! Where do these people come from?????
